Mr. Young provides mental health services for individual students, student families, and student groups, utilizing Restorative Practice techniques and modules. As a therapist, he also believes it is his responsibility to promote cheer and kindness with the staff, stakeholders, and community. In his position, Mr. Young's impact extends far beyond my "office" and into every classroom and throughout the school.
Mr. Young creates a positive atmosphere by understanding that as his heart grows bigger and bigger, students, families, staff, and community members are all able to expand their hearts and show love to one another. Kind hearts spread positivity and assist each student in gaining a greater understanding of the world and their fellow person, and surround the learner with the feeling that they belong in the learning community.
Mr. Young holds a Master's Degree in Special Education, a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and several endorsements in General Education. He was awarded the 2023 Licensed Professional of the Year Starlight Award for his district. He also worked for seven years at the Variety School in Las Vegas, which is also part of CCSD. In this role, he worked with students with profound autism who had verbal limitations and emotional confusion, leading to extreme aggression and violent behaviors.
