Brad Daughtry was nominated anonymously.

Mr. Daughtry has an unconventional teaching approach. Students often tell him, "I've never had a teacher like you before." Mr. Daughtry doesn't tolerate bullying, and students know they're in a safe environment where they can ask any question. He tells them his weaknesses on the first day and some challenges he still has as a former U.S. Army combat medic. He reminds them they are living life together, and everyone needs to help each other. During the year, he makes a bulletin board titled, "Enter to learn and leave to lead." His goal is to teach students to be leaders, and to teach others. He says test scores and grades are important, but a student has to "believe" to "achieve" and is hopeful he can help them do both.

Congratulations for being nominated for teacher of the year! My daughter had him as her teacher for 5th grade and he is an excellent teacher! Thank you for teaching her this year, she is very prepared for middle school. I hope that he stays healthy and keeps preparing students for middle school. Thank you!
