Music that Describes Michelle

Michelle Gross was nominated by Barbara Kopp, a family member.

"Creative, passionate, and encouraging are the qualities I would use to describe Michelle. She exemplifies excellence in teaching, inspires creativity in students every day, and fosters a lifelong love of music that enriches the entire school community. From day one, Michelle has brought her flair, energy, joy, and compassion to the classroom," said Kopp.

Mrs. Gross has created an inclusive and engaging music program where students of all abilities feel seen, supported, and excited to learn. From the moment she arrived at her current building, students didn't want to leave her class! Whether guiding a kindergartner's first rhythm lesson or preparing upper grades for a full-scale performance, Mrs. Gross demonstrates both expertise and heart.

Here are just a few of the many reasons why Mrs. Gross is a LifeChanger:

  • She uses technology, movement, and culturally responsive materials to make music meaningful and relevant to every learner.
  • She fosters confidence, teamwork, and discipline through music—skills that benefit students far beyond the classroom.
  • She regularly organizes concerts, family music nights, and collaborations that bring families and faculty together to celebrate student talents.
  • She even serves on school committees and advocates for the arts across the district.

"I am truly amazed when I attend her programs! All of the students are engaged and enjoying the performance. She ensures that each student has a costume, performs all the choreography herself, and goes all out with her decorations. Her programs are like mini-Broadway shows," said Kopp. "Michelle goes above and beyond to make a difference every single day. She doesn't just teach music. She teaches joy, resilience, and expression. For all of the reasons listed above, it is hard to imagine a more deserving candidate."

Mrs. Gross is the best! I wish she was still my music teacher. I only got one year to spend with her but it was the best year ever!
