Angela Wilson was nominated anonymously.
Ms. Wilson believes that students have to feel loved to learn! She loves her students fiercely every day, and she shows it through hugs, pats on the back, listening, and never yelling. She thinks one of the most important things she does every day as a teacher is write notes to students on index cards. She tries to write at least one note to each student every week. For example, "You’re doing a great job at listening this week!" "I am so proud of you!" Or, "I’m sorry you’re having a rough day! Mrs. Wilson still loves you!"
She has students who are adults who tell her they still have their stack of notes. Her personal connections with students create an environment where everyone feels valued and seen. The items that she purchases most often for her students are snacks. Students know that they will be taken care of if they’re hungry. Additionally, student supplies like paper, pencils, pens, and computer chargers are consumable items that she goes through frequently. She is always adding to the library collection and looking for new books to entice even the most reluctant readers. Her career accomplishments include being named a Golden Apple Recipient, Teacher of the Year, and being appointed lead in her department.
