Creating a positive classroom environment is at the heart of everything Ms. Pippin does as a fourth-grade teacher. She believes that students thrive when they feel seen, supported, and challenged in meaningful ways. At the start of each year, she focuses on building strong relationships with her students. Ms. Pippin takes the time to learn about their interests, strengths, and goals, and shares information about herself to build mutual trust and respect. She sets high expectations for behavior and academics, while also providing the tools and encouragement students need to meet those expectations. She and her students work together to set individual and class goals, and she makes it a point to celebrate both small milestones and big successes. Whether it's mastering a new skill or demonstrating kindness, she ensures students know their efforts matter. She strives to create a classroom culture where mistakes are part of learning, effort is recognized, and every student feels they belong. By fostering this kind of supportive and goal-oriented environment, her students become more confident, motivated, and invested in their own learning journey.
