Gina Topor was nominated anonymously.
Ms. Topor is a dedicated and passionate school volunteer and substitute teacher who has made Ulis Newton Elementary feel like a second home, not just for her own children, but for every student she encounters. As a frequent substitute at her daughters' school, she brings energy, kindness, and consistency to the classroom, ensuring students feel supported and seen. Whether she's bringing small prizes to brighten a child's day or stepping in to give teachers a well-earned break, Ms. Topor is deeply committed to creating a positive, welcoming school environment.
She has served two years on the PTA board, currently as PTA President, and a year on the School Organizational Team (SOT). She is constantly on campus, cleaning rugs, helping teachers, volunteering wherever needed, and fully invested in the school community, all while balancing life as a mom of three, including twins.
This year, Ulis Newton faces serious staffing and funding challenges. With class sizes swelling to 25+ students, Ms. Topor has stepped up again, working to secure meal donations, gift cards, and sponsorships to help reduce costs for families and support her colleagues. Ms. Topor also brings a strong professional background in corporate supply chain, having worked for companies like Buddig Meats, Weber Grill, and Honeywell Aerospace, where she consistently met and exceeded budget-saving goals. Now, she uses that experience to advocate for students and staff, helping to make Ulis Newton a warm, inclusive, and well-supported place for all.
My daughter has grown from an adorable little girl into a very accomplished adult woman. She has provided many achievements throughout her endeavors, least of which is her community involvement and commitment. In her single life she was successful in her sport and business ventures. In her married life she has provided me with 3 cherished grandchildren. She has become a leader of the PTA (President) and a dedicated substitute teacher. I am proud to be her father and a grandfather.
I'm not surprised by this nomination for this award by an anonymous person, because all who know and/or come into contact with Gina recognize how passionately generous she is with time and her commitments. I've known Gina for 17 years and worked with her five of those years. She was a superstar then and no doubt still that person. She's raising her children with love, respect and a passion for freedom of expression. So I have no doubt she is spreading that same ethic to the wonderfully blessed children under her tutilage. Well done Gina.
As her brother, I’ve seen firsthand how hard she works—balancing life as a mom of three with leading the PTA and supporting teachers every day. Whether she’s subbing in a classroom, pitching in and taking the lead at events, finding new ways to make the school better for kids and staff, or making sure teachers are well-fed before the year begins, she gives her all with a tireless passion. She inspires me and everyone she meets. Truly a Lifechanger.
Gina was a treasured babysitter of mine with my three children when she was growing up in our neighborhood. Now she is a wonderful mom of her own three kids. She comes from a great supportive family and she is kind, hard working and loves helping people. I am so proud of her and all her accomplishments! I highly recommend her for this award.
March 22, 1980.
It all began on this day. Gina was born a fighter. And a fighter she was, spending a week in the NICU to help her heart get back to normal. And she didn’t stop there! From elementary school (where she excelled in her studies and in sports). On to junior high and high school. Not only helping those who needed her, but continuing her studies and sports. A 3 sport athlete and captain of all (volleyball, basketball and softball). And, homecoming queen to top it off!
A University of Iowa grad!!
So very proud of her!! There is nothing she can’t do! Especially if it means making her and her community better!
I’m so very proud of Gina, my daughter.
She’s always striving to make things easier and better for her family, friends and community.
So deserving of the life changer award for 2025-2026.
I have met and known many wonderful people in life, but Gina is one of a only a few that truly encompasses the meaning and purpose of the Life Changer award. I have been friends with Gina's brother for over 10 years, but only had the chance of meeting Gina about 3 years ago. We became instant friends with similar sense of humor and outlook on life. But Gina changed my life. She changed my life in the sense that she showed me what true friendship and showing up for someone is. Numerous times Gina has dropped what she was doing to help me and my family when we needed it most, no questions asked, not expecting anything in return. And I would like to think that I am special and I am the only one she does this for, but I am not. Gina does this for every single person and child she cares for. She goes above and beyond to help in any way that she can, even if that means just being present.
Besides being a wife and mother, Gina has found her purpose when it comes to working in the school and working directly with kids. Her eyes light up when she talks about her experiences and she has a fire and passion for helping make school the best possible experience for all students.
No one is more deserving of this nomination and award than Gina.
I always knew I married a superhero… now the whole world knows it too! ?????????
As PTA President, a dedicated substitute teacher, and the most incredible mom to our three kids, she gives her whole heart to everything she does. Whether it's for our family, or someone else’s, she’s always there organizing, helping, supporting, and showing up with love and strength that leaves a lasting impact on everyone around her.
She never does it for recognition, which is exactly why she deserves every bit of it. This nomination is a small glimpse into the superhero that shows up for us everyday!
My life changed for the better the moment you walked into it. We love you, and we’re so proud of you!
All my love,
Mark
I met Gina over 15 yrs ago in Albuquerque, and even then she would light up a room when she entered it. Everyone she meets will become a friend, and know that she’ll be there if ever needed. There is no surprise that she commits her entire self into everything she does.
No one more deserving of this award than Gina! She is a true advocate, supporter and partner for education at Newton!
I’ve known Gina for many years. Time and time again she has demonstrated her commitment to her teams and team mates! It doesn’t surprise me she has been an amazing addition to the school and school district she and her family live in! She is a wonderful person, a strong woman who has always been active in her community. A wonderful role model for our young students and a wonderful mother for her children. I support her always and stand proud to say she is my long time friend.
Let me tell you all something. This woman is beyond amazing and is beyond caring. She does so much for our school. And I am proud to call her my friend.
Thank you so much for everything you do for us. You make Newton a better place for everyone.
I truly believe Gina deserves to win, not just because she is a friend of mine, but because what she does for her friends family and even the school our children go to. Personally I’d vote for because of the person she is. My family in I were put in a very hard spot this year and without asking Gina had gone out of her way to make sure my family was ok and made sure my kids had some snacks and food when we were tight with money and weren’t sure how we were going to buy groceries. She has gone above and beyond when it comes to being there for my children and I and our children’s school Ulis newton. You will always find her at a meeting or volunteering to help the school out when they need it and you don’t really need to ask her to help she’s always one step a head and making sure the school gets taken care of and her family. I truly admire the type of person she is and how selfless she is.
I couldn’t have chosen a better nominee than Gina. What an incredible, generous, kind soul.
Congratulations! You are amazing! Well deserved.
Gina is a saint. Can’t think of anyone more deserving of this nomination and all kind words. She’s a wonderful mom, caring human, and she has a great sense of humor.
