Nicolas Lopez was nominated by his friend, Sonia Santana.

"I'm honored to nominate Nicolas Lopez for this award. Nicolas is an incredible special education teacher who has dedicated over 20 years to serving students in education, with the past six years as a classroom teacher. He is one of the most respected educators in his field, not just because of his experience, but because of the heart he brings into every interaction," said Santana.

Mr. Lopez is known for his compassion, patience, and deep commitment to his students. He makes every student feel seen, heard, and appreciated, and goes above and beyond to meet their individual needs. Whether it means staying after school to give a student extra support, or reaching out to parents to build a plan together, Mr. Lopez always makes time to ensure his students are thriving, not just academically, but emotionally, too.

He's also volunteered his time during the summer to tutor students whose families can't afford private help, showing just how much he cares about making sure every student gets a fair chance. Mr. Lopez works hard to ensure no student feels left out and that each one has the tools and confidence to reach their goals.
