Ms. Madden is a dedicated primary functional life skills teacher who creates a structured, supportive classroom centered on trust, consistency, and individualized care. She uses visual supports, social stories, and reinforcement systems to help students with significant developmental and communication delays feel safe, engaged, and empowered. Many of her students rely on alternative communication methods like PECS or AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) devices, making hands-on, adapted resources essential. Ms. Madden successfully transitioned from a primary resource role to her current position and has led the development of individualized programs for students with complex needs. She’s presented on behavior support strategies, serves on IEP (individualized educational plan) teams, and is currently pursuing a master’s in Special Education with a focus on Early Childhood, researching how to train paraprofessionals in Pivotal Response Training (PRT).

I have had the privilege of knowing and working with Ali for the past three years, and in that time, I cannot express enough how truly amazing and talented she is as an educator. What makes her impact even more remarkable is that she is still fairly new to the district, yet she has already established herself as a trusted and inspirational teacher. Ali serves as a Functional Life Skills teacher, and her passion for her students radiates in everything she does. She has a gift for meeting children exactly where they are, academically, socially, and emotionally, and creating a safe, supportive environment where they can thrive. Many of her students come to her classroom with unique challenges, and Ali has not only embraced those challenges but has turned them into opportunities for growth. She has changed lives by helping students develop critical functional, academic, and social skills that will serve them far beyond the classroom. Ali is the kind of teacher who goes above and beyond every single day. She leads with compassion, patience, and creativity, setting the standard for excellence in special education. In just a few short years, she has left a lasting impact not only on her students’ lives but also on the culture of our school community. She is more than deserving of this nomination.
