Her lessons frequently engage the five senses to help students build meaningful connections with the material.
Recognizing that many students arrive at school without basic supplies, Ms. Drum often purchases items like scissors, crayons, notebooks, and even materials for hands-on experiments and crafts out of her own pocket. She also invests in storage and organizational tools to help streamline classroom logistics and create a more accessible learning environment.
In addition to her work in the classroom, Ms. Drum serves on several school committees, including those focused on administration and curriculum development. Her dedication to her students and her school community is evident in all that she does.
All my life I have seen my mom put in countless efforts to teach her students. She spends long evenings putting together a welcoming classroom and her personal time and money to create engaging activities and crafts for her class. As a student I can say that many teachers do not go above and beyond but my mom always has. She genuinely cares about all her students and strives to create a solid foundation for their education to flourish, and as a nursing student I can say that is extremely important. I am very proud of my mom and glad she is getting the recognition that she deserves!
My mom Mrs. Drum is the most incredible woman I know she’s not just an amazing teacher, she’s also my number one supporter and biggest fan no matter what I go through I can always count on her to be there for me cheering me on and believing in me even when I don’t believe in myself. She gives so much love and care to everyone around her and I feel so lucky to have a mom like her she inspires me every day with her strength, kindness, and her heart and I’m so proud to call her my mom. I love you and am super proud of this nomination!
I have worked with Mrs. Drum for 10 years. She is one of the best teachers I have ever met because of her dedication to self improvement, her work ethic, her genuine care for all of her students, and her excitement to collaborate with coworkers to make the best environment for the entire community. Over the years, Mrs. Drum is the teacher that I would seek advice from. She is humble and kind but also a fierce advocate for her students and what is right for each of them holistically. She has a deep care for each of her students, as if they were her own, providing essentials for them when necessary— even providing new clothes and washing their old clothes so the children were not bullied. She is not only an amazing teacher, but an amazing coworker, friend, mother, wife, and community member. She certainly has been a “LifeChanger” for me!

Mrs. Drum is a very caring teacher. She pours herself into making her classroom the best learning environment for the students she is blessed to have.
