Arie Sawyer-Williams was nominated anonymously.
"I have the utmost pleasure to nominate Arie Sawyer-Williams for LifeChanger of the Year. I am fortunate to have learned from her over the years, particularly in the areas of district collaboration and mentoring. Although we do not work on the same campus, I have had the honor of learning from her. She has had a profound influence on the lives of those she taught and continues to teach, as well as those who teach her, including me," said the nominator.
With 24 years of experience in the field of education, Mrs. Sawyer-Williams has consistently had a positive impact on the lives of her students. She also demonstrates a substantial degree of empathy and perception towards all children, regardless of their socioeconomic status, ability, or disability. She enables her students to grow academically, emotionally, and socially under her supervision.
You can even smell the good culture she creates on her campus, even when you are at a distance. Her attitude is encouraging and engulfs warmth, as is the case in her classroom, which is a place of safety and nurture. She is the kind of teacher that students will remember many years later, not only because of what she taught, but also because of how she made them feel.
"We are on different campuses, but she has been a role model to me in terms of leadership, as she has given me district-level training and informal mentorship. She is the kind of teacher who is willing to share her knowledge, inspire people, and be an ethical but effective leader. Her impact has shaped me into the teacher I am today, and I am sure that many others can attest to this throughout the district," said the nominator.
Everyone who works with Mrs. Sawyer-Williams respects her, including teachers, administrators, and parents. She has earned such a reputation for excellence. She consistently demonstrates creativity and in-depth knowledge of the content in her classroom. The fact that her students excel at high levels is not by chance, but because she strives to ensure their success.
The ability to create a safe learning environment that challenges students is one of her most significant gifts. She looks at the entire child, not just at their academic needs, and finds a special knack for getting through to even the most reluctant student. Her classroom is the place where children have confidence in themselves. Over the years, she has consistently demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and care throughout her long and successful career. She is a leader who leads by example, doing what is right, even when nobody is watching. Mrs. Sawyer-Williams is a person of principle, which is why she is trusted by both her family and fellow workers.
"Arie Sawyer-Williams is the epitome of what it is to be a lifelong educator. She has dedicated her heart and soul to this profession. This nomination will be one of the small yet significant acknowledgments of the many lives she continues to reach out to," said the nominator.
