Rayna Bouchard was nominated by Jacob Graff, a parent of a student.

"My son started school this past April, just after he turned three. On his first day, he was thrilled; he ran into the school without looking back at his mom or me. But by day two, reality set in. He began to cry at drop-off, and that became our routine for a few weeks. Each day got a little better, but it was still hard," said Graff.

"About a week after his first day, I drove him to school. As we parked, he started crying again. I carried him in, feeling awful. My son is very social, but when he's upset, he shuts down completely. He never wants comfort from anyone but me or his mom. But that day, something surprising happened. As we got closer to the building, he recognized Mrs. Bouchard, and through his tears, he reached out for her. Voluntarily," said Graff.

"I was stunned. Mrs. Bouchard was the first person outside of our family that he'd ever turned to for comfort while upset. In that moment, I knew without a doubt that she was extraordinary. She creates the kind of trust and warmth that children sense instinctively. She is 100% deserving of this award," said Graff.

Rayna truly deserves all the recognition. She is wonderfully warm, kind, and passionate about what she does. My daughter came to kindergarten after spending three years in a private preschool where she hated going to school and cried every single day. We were honestly so nervous about such a big transition into K. From day one, Rayna made it a completely different experience. She gives so much love to her students and creates a classroom environment where everyone feels safe, supported, and valued. Kindergarten is a huge adjustment, and Rayna has made it joyful for our daughter. Her communication with families is excellent, she is incredibly flexible with individual student needs, and you can feel how deeply she cares. We are beyond grateful for her and feel so lucky to have her as Tate’s teacher. She is truly extraordinary.

My son is crushing it in kindergarten because of her attention and care! Report cards just came out and I was blown away by his progress since September. He has difficulty with impulse control and has had his issues since starting school but Mrs. B constantly works with him to keep his behavior on track and hold his attention on learning. Thrilled he has you as a teacher this year and can’t thank you enough for the effort of helping my son achieve his goals and thrive in kindergarten. Thank you!

Mrs. Bouchard has been an amazing teacher. My son feels comfortable, happy, and excited to go to school every day. When I asked him if he wanted to add anything, he said, “She’s nice and good at making me laugh.” This has been the smoothest kindergarten transition any of my children have had, and it’s entirely because of Mrs. Bouchard. She truly deserves the Life Changer Award.
