Music that Describes Shannon
Shannon Hill was nominated by her principal, Catelyn Deromedi.
"Shannon Hill has been a dedicated teacher in Hot Springs County School District #1 since 2012. She has taught students in grades 7–12 across a wide range of courses, including Physical Education, Health, Lifetime Sports, Morning Wellness, and Advanced Health and Wellness," said Deromedi.
Ms. Hill is more than a physical education teacher; she's a champion for her students' physical, mental, and emotional well-being. At the high school level, she leads a special ninth-grade Health and PE course where students focus on health topics two days a week and enjoy physical activity the other two days. Her classes are hands-on, meaningful, and focused on helping students feel safe, supported, and motivated.
What makes Ms. Hill stand out is her creativity and drive to give students real-world experiences. She brings in guest speakers, organizes field trips, and creates opportunities for students to learn in ways that stick with them. In her Lifetime Sports class, for example, students try new activities such as skiing, kayaking, fishing, archery, and self-defense, skills they can enjoy for a lifetime.
"Shannon's students leave her class with more than just knowledge. They walk away with confidence, resilience, and a lasting love for wellness. Her impact goes far beyond the classroom. Shannon Hill is a true LifeChanger," said Deromedi.
