Ebony Wrenn was nominated by Farrintino Gordon, a member of the community.
"Dr. Ebony Wrenn is a light in her school and community. As principal of Jackson Charter School, she makes it her mission to ensure the students and staff feel like family. Dr. Wrenn and I got to know each other when she asked me to do financial literacy sessions for the staff at the school. She didn't want the teachers to worry or stress about finances. We all know that most people today are preoccupied with financial worries. Dr. Wrenn wanted to alleviate that worry. During this time, I had the opportunity to watch exactly how the students gravitate to her. The care and support she gives is evident in how they respond. Plus, she knows them by name," said Gordon.
"I remember principals being someone to fear. Dr. Wrenn is someone who the students hold dear. The students even make sure their parents do everything in their power to bring them to school on time to ensure perfect attendance. The students truly want to do and achieve more due to her influence. Due to Dr. Wrenn's effects on the staff, students, and community, I have gone from an outsider to part of the Jackson Charter School family. She is a driving force for good, and it can be seen in every student, teacher, faculty, and parent. The world would be much better if we had more principals like her," said Gordon.
Wrenn is a fierce advocate for her students and families and an extremely hard worker. Well deserved nomination!
