Paighton Alberts was nominated by her principal, NeTassha Rendon.
Ms. Alberts is an exceptional kindergarten teacher at a UTK-8 Title I school. She consistently goes above and beyond to meet the diverse needs of her students. Her classroom is a safe and nurturing environment where every child is valued, including those with significant social-emotional or behavioral challenges due to disabilities.
Ms. Alberts approaches each student with patience, empathy, and genuine commitment, adapting her teaching to ensure that all learners have the opportunity to succeed. Her dedication doesn’t end at the classroom door. She builds strong, respectful partnerships with families, maintaining open communication and offering support that extends into the home. Her influence also reaches across grade levels—she actively contributes to the broader school community and serves as the middle school volleyball coach. In this role, she mentors older students, instilling in them the same values of teamwork, resilience, and respect that she brings to her teaching.
Ms. Alberts exemplifies what it means to be a transformative educator. Her leadership, compassion, and tireless advocacy make a meaningful difference, not only in the lives of her students, but in the entire school community.
Paighton is a ray of sunshine in human form who brings love, laughter, caring, joy and fun to everybody and every situation around her. She is dedicated to everything she takes on and is always concerned with doing the best she can for her students. She loves her students and is constantly trying to improve so that she can best help them. Paighton is reflective, thoughtful and communicative, all characteristics that help her to be an incredible person and teacher.
Ms. Alberts is a kind and dedicated teacher whose passion and love for teaching are truly contagious. She makes a difference not only in the classroom but also out in the community—especially on the volleyball courts! Her heart for her students and commitment to giving back make her the absolute best kindergarten teacher.

Ms. Alberts is very deserving of this award! She puts her all into everything she doesn’t and she really cares for her students! Her positive energy makes her interactions with students and colleagues happy ones. She is an amazing party of the community!
Paighton is a dedicated teacher and mentor. She gives her all in everything she does and always has her student’s best interest at heart. She views each child as a whole person and strives to make each one of them feel welcomed and accepted as they are.
This past year, Miss Alberts kickstarted 22 young children on their lifelong learning career. Not only did she give them the fundamental skills learned in kindergarten, but she also brought them into the bilingual world by giving instruction in Spanish. 90% of her students did not speak Spanish going into this school year, yet all are continuing on to first grade with the ability to read, write, and speak in a 2nd language.
Spend 5 minutes in a kindergarten classroom and you'll quickly understand why Miss Alberts is a super hero. The amount of compassion, nurturing, intelligence, and above all patience required to teach at this level is astounding. Nevertheless, Miss Alberts's students excelled this year and absolutely adore her. They had fun playing wiffle ball, they learned about butterflies, they went on field trips, and are well prepared for the first grade.
In addition to teaching, somehow Miss Alberts also found time to work thru the first year of her induction program as well as coach the middle school girls Volleyball team. Balancing parent requests for playing time, trying to win a few games, learning how to play the sport, and fostering a fun/inclusive environment are all big challenges. For many of these girls, this was their first year of playing organized sports. Thanks to Miss Alberts leadership, the team got to enjoy match wins, the support of teammates, and had a great time competing.
I fully endorse Miss Alberts for this award on account of huge impact she has made this year. The school is fortunate to have her on staff and her students could not have asked for a more passionate, caring, and dedicated teacher.
Ms. Alberts is such a kind and dedicated teacher. It’s easy to see how much she cares about her students and puts her heart into everything she does. Her classroom feels warm and welcoming, and the kids are lucky to have her. She truly makes a difference every day.
Paighton is a very hard worker and has always excelled in everything she sets her mind on. I know she does this too as a teacher putting together all of her own experiences being an excellent student herself and understanding what it takes and means to be like that. Teaching others the same way she enjoyed learning and I know she relates to her students in so many ways. I know she truly enjoys what she is doing in her classroom and she has excellent results from her hard work. She is an amazing person in so many ways. I am very proud of her and all of her goals and accomplishments.
Despite being a relatively new teacher, in her second year teaching in the San Diego Unified School District, and having a handful of students with challenging behaviors and teaching them in Spanish (not the first language of most of the students), she has approached each situation with equanimity. She exudes confidence and calm and creates a supportive environment for each and every one of her Kindergarten students not only to learn, but to grow and blossom into engaged learners.
Ms. Albert’s is an awesome Kinder Teacher! She is kind, cares about her students and is always showing up to school events!
Ms. Alberts is such an awesome kindergarten teacher! She inspires young minds with warmth, patience, and creativity every single day. Paighton is an exceptional teacher. I have had the opportunity to see her in her class a few times and it is obvious how strong her classroom community is. The children respect and adore Ms. Alberts and one another. This is our first year working together and I look for many more to come as Paighton is a team player willing to step up and take on any extra challenges and open to any new ideas. Ms. Alberts has been a truly wonderful teacher for our son. Her kindness, compassion, and approachable nature make her stand out. Ms. Alberts has been such a supportive and inspirational teacher to our girl this year. She went from being nervous about attending school to loving it every day. We absolutely love Ms. Alberts and hope the brothers get her for kinder too (if we’re lucky!!)
Paighton is a hard worker who consistently puts in effort to provide the best classroom experience for her students. She shows up to her classroom early every day to ensure she has time to both prepare for her class and assess her students to prepare them for the next school year. She purchases supplies to best set her students up for success. She reads books and educates herself on diversity, self-reflects, and creates visual representation within her classroom so that all students regardless of background feel as though they belong and can succeed. Every time I meet her, she has new stories about her students and things she is learning as she continues in her teaching career. She is committed to growing her skillset and creating the best experiences she can for her students and for the overall school environment.
i have adored Paighton, even before she was born! i AM honored to be her grandmother! She is truly an Angel who is constantly helping and loving all those who are blessed to be in her life. She has always given her love and support to everyone. There is no kinder, more beautiful Angel anywhere!!! If Paighton wins the "big prize" i believe that she will give 99% of it to someone in need. Ms. Alberts has such an amazing, positive attitude and I love watching her with her students. She is loving, supportive, and dedicated to Spanish immersion. I work as a substitute teacher at the school and she goes out of her way to see if I have everything I need for a successful day, even when I’m in another class. What an incredible teacher and amazing person!
Paighton has truly been an exceptional teacher. My daughter is in Paightons kindergarten class this year, and she has helped her grow so much in communication, social skills, and overall confidence in herself and the classroom. My daughter is not an easy nut to crack and she needed a lot of support which Paighton immediately began implementing without me having to say anything. I typically have a list of things I go over with teachers at the start of the year, and Paighton was so understanding and knowledgeable on interventions and strategies to use to support my child and to make sure she did not feel left out or isolated. Our family is eternally grateful for Paightons hard work and dedication not only to my daughter but to all the kids. I have seen the same dedication and compassion across all students, and to see a teacher who is so fluent in strategies to support the kids who need that extra push or often labelled as “difficult” and unfortunately dismissed or neglected was a relief and happiness I immediately felt. Teachers like this are so difficult to find, she truly is a life changer as she has changed my daughters love for school for the better.

I am so grateful to have been given this opportunity to give a 'shout out' Paighton Alberts as one of the finest educators I have worked with in the past 10 years as a special education teacher. She has made my job infinitely easier through her hard work and dedication to the profession. As many of you know, the move to inclusion in public schools provides additional challenges for teachers. Many of the strategies and accommodations that are implemented to support our students with special needs fall on our general education teachers to implement with fidelity. Paighton Alberts does a remarkable job of this, especially given it is only her second year as a teacher! She is always looking to improve her practice by reflection, collaboration, and willingness to try new things. Not only does she ensure that her students who need additional supports and accommodations get them consistently, it is not done at the expense of her diverse group of students. Ms. Alberts makes all of her students feel special and unique. She challenges those students who are ready for it. Ms. Alberts comes to work with an infectiously positive attitude and when absent (only been absent for PD) her plans are detailed and meticulously thought out so her class does not skip a beat. I could go on and on about how effective a teacher Ms. Alberts is, but to keep it short, no one is more deserving of the recognition for a job well done.

Paighton is an amazing teacher! Each time I walk into her classroom to pick up my speech-language students for therapy the students are engaged, happy and so eager to learn what she is teaching. Although she has several students with more challenging needs in her class this year, Paighton shows such passion, patience and kindness in her teaching and interactions with all the students and you can see that they just adore her and feel so supported by her. I have worked with many teachers throughout my career and Paighton impresses me with her willingness to constantly learn and be her best, so that she can continue to give her best to her students.

Ms. Alberts is a Life Changer! She works at a Spanish Immersion School and she is so committed to the program that she alway speaks in Spanish to her Kindergarten class and to other Spanish speaking staff.
