Rebekah Mooneyham was nominated by a parent of a student, Sallie Alexander.
"Mrs. Rebekah is my son's first-grade teacher. She is passionate about teaching and student learning! She has been patient with my son and encouraging to him. She is positive and upbeat, and you can tell her students respect her," said Alexander. "When my son had a behavioral challenge, she spoke with me on the phone and in person. She assured me that my son had made many improvements and, with some strategies she put into place, that he was doing much better!"
"At parent-teacher conferences, she had nothing negative to say about my son. I thought she was just being nice, but she assured us he was doing well and doing what she asked. In addition, my son disliked homework and reading. However, by encouraging him to read chapter books that were challenging for him, I saw my son change his response to reading. He felt so 'big' that he could read chapter books on his level! He even became a little competitive in trying to earn AR points. She has pushed my son to achieve more than he thought he could and has made a true difference in his life. I am so blessed that my son had such a nurturing teacher this year in Mrs. Rebekah," said Alexander.
