Music that Describes Robin

Robin Rabideau was nominated by her colleague, Pariesa Durej.

For over a decade, Ms. Rabideau has been an integral part of the Putnam Vocational High School community, embodying what it means to be a dedicated educator, a compassionate colleague, and a quiet force for good. She consistently goes above and beyond—not for recognition or reward, but because it is simply who she is. Whether sharing resources to support the school's multilingual learners, leading professional learning communities, or co-teaching with colleagues navigating new curricula, she shows empathy, patience, and expertise.

"Ms. Rabideau is the person who stays late after school to lend a hand, a listening ear, or even a warm meal during department meetings. She feeds not just our bodies but our spirits," said Durej.

During the pandemic, she stepped in to support students struggling with technology and isolation, once again proving her unwavering commitment to the well-being of those around her. She did all of this without ever being asked. Her motivation comes from the kindness of her heart and a deep sense of service to her community.

She has created a classroom environment that is both physically and emotionally safe—a haven for students who struggle with the social dynamics of the cafeteria and a launchpad for clubs built around their interests. This year, she helped form a crochet club to support a student's vision of fostering peer connection and reducing stress—an example of her responsiveness to students' voices and needs.

Beyond her classroom, Ms. Rabideau's compassion has extended into the most personal and profound areas of school life. When a former student, who had been in foster care, tragically passed away, she quietly took it upon herself to organize a funeral service. She gave his teachers and peers a safe place to grieve and honor the life of a young person who had not always had a safe place to call his own.

"That act of grace and humanity reminded us all of the power of presence and compassion," Durej added.

She also ensured that a newly hired staff member, who could not drive for several months, could get to and from work. Without hesitation, she rearranged her schedule to provide daily transportation, helping a new colleague feel welcomed and supported in a time of great personal challenge.

"Ms. Rabideau has stepped up time and again—teaching night school to help seniors stay on track for graduation, volunteering for summer school when staffing was short, and bringing a human touch to the often sterile world of data-driven instruction. She has made our school not just a workplace but a community. As an Instructional Coach, I've often leaned on Robin's strength, wisdom, and unwavering positivity. She may not hold a formal leadership title, but in the hearts of our staff, she is known as 'Robin the Great'—a title she has earned through her kindness, work ethic, and the inspiration she brings to us all. Robin Rabideau is not only a remarkable educator but the kind of person every school hopes to have. It is with deep respect and unreserved enthusiasm that I recommend her for any opportunity that allows her to continue doing what she does best—lifting others up," Durej concluded.
