Music that Describes Homer

Homer Webb was nominated by a member in the community, Tracy Arline.

Principal Webb's life's work is the definition of being a LifeChanger — not because of a title or position, but because of the impact he makes every single day on the hearts and futures of young people. A graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration, Mr. Webb began his career in education while earning his Master of Education at Dallas Baptist University.

Mr. Webb has served DeSoto ISD faithfully since joining in 2005. First, he was an assistant principal at Amber Terrace Intermediate School, helping to transition the campus to an elementary school. Later, he answered a deeper calling — to lead students often overlooked — as the DeSoto Alternative Education Program (DAEP) principal. What sets Principal Webb apart is his unwavering belief that every student deserves hope, opportunity, and a second chance. He doesn't just lead DAEP; he lives its mission. Understanding that many of his students rarely have the opportunity to dream beyond their immediate realities, Principal Webb literally brings the world to them.

As a licensed pilot, he once flew a plane and brought his students to see it up close, giving them a tangible connection to the possibilities beyond their neighborhood streets. He frequently invites former students, business owners, community leaders, and even NFL players to speak to his students, meeting them where they are and opening doors to what can be, not just what is. His passion stems from his own story. Principal Webb could have become a statistic growing up in Oak Cliff, a neighborhood plagued by limited opportunities. Instead, with family support, programs like Gifted and Talented, and his relentless pursuit of growth, he chose a different path. Today, he dedicates his life to helping others do the same.

One of the most poignant examples of his influence happened years ago when a student he mentored suffered the loss of a friend. Principal Webb attended the community vigil and gave an impromptu speech from the heart. His words struck a powerful chord. Years later, while at a workshop he was presenting, a mother in tears thanked him for saving her son's life. While speaking to the young people at that vigil, his heartfelt appeal influenced her son to go home and not seek revenge that night. This isn't an isolated moment — it's the product of years of relational leadership. Every student who walks through DAEP's doors becomes a life he carefully and intentionally touches. His students do not feel discarded or forgotten; they feel seen, heard, and loved.

"Principal Homer Webb is more than an educator. He is a visionary, a protector of dreams, and a fierce believer in the potential of every child. His story proves that true leadership isn't about authority but authenticity, compassion, and action. For these reasons and so many more, Principal Homer Webb does not just deserve the LifeChanger of the Year award — he embodies it," said Arline.

Principal Webb epitomizes the Life Changer Award. He is the principal of the alternative school in our district so he works closely to support every campus. When students go to DAEP, Principal Webb and his team work closely with the students to help them see that one choice is not the sum of who they are. Moreover he leads his team to give the students the tools needed to return to the campus and make better decisions. Mr. Webb champions all students and schools as well. One of the things he loves to do is fly his plane in his free time. He shares his love for aviation with students throughout the district and even does fly overs for schools. Principal Webb is the most tenured administrator in our district with almost two decades of service to our students, families, and district. He is a pillar in our district, and we are so proud of his positive influence and leadership!

Mr. Webb is very deserving of this recognition. His passion working with students is impeccably evident in all his actions. I’ve witnessed his calming and compassionate dedication to listen and build relationships with all students that cross his path both former and present. Students always come first in his book! He unselfishly sacrifices his own needs to meet others needs first. It’s a great pleasure working with such a genuine person. Definitely a Life Changer!!!!!

I've had the pleasure of meeting Homor over 14 years ago. My first interaction with him was me attempting to perform volunteer work within the school district. As a retired Law Enforcement Executive with over 29 years experience, I could not believe the remarkable work Homer had done and was doing. I may have lasted one week. Specifically working with the most difficult children that most trained professionals had given up on. His approach, love, commitment and belief that no child should be lost in the system was not only humbling but stellar. Moving forward, during an on-site meeting with the School Superintendent shockingly I was re-introduced to Homer. This time, Homer took the time out to explain and demonstrate an area that he helped design ( a time -out area ) specialized to aid in the calming of children who were having a bad day. I must say that his approach, passion and understanding of children should definitely be commended. Homer has demonstrated that his commitment to ensuring that every child is given a fair opportunity is displayed daily during his work ethics and humble disposition as he has professionally mastered such a Thankless job. Kudos to Homer and the lives he has changed.

Mr. Webb is truly a LifeChanger. During his time serving in the district, he has worked closely with many students, particularly at DAEP, and the impact of his leadership is unmistakable. What stands out most is the number of students who return to campus to share how the strategies they learned under his guidance helped them make better choices and avoid repeating past behaviors. I have personally witnessed students use those tools in real time. Even in moments of anger, they pause, talk themselves through difficult situations, and apply what they learned to respond more constructively. That kind of lasting impact speaks volumes about both Mr. Webb’s leadership and the environment he intentionally creates for students. Homer Webb is also the definition of consistency. He is a leader you can count on to do what needs to be done so that students, staff, and the campus as a whole receive his very best. He leads with integrity, follows through on his word, and holds himself to a standard that is increasingly rare. Through his unwavering commitment, authenticity, and belief in students, Mr. Webb doesn’t just manage behavior. He changes lives.

ANDREA HALL Posted 7 months ago

I have worked with Mr. Webb for many years, and I have always admired what he does at DAEP. He takes in students when they're feeling down, and he lifts them up. He reminds them that they're important and can do anything they set their mind to. Mr. Webb also works with the families of these students. A lot of times these families are frustrated, even angry, but he's able to walk alongside them with the encouragement they need. He doesn't just preach to these kids, he walks it out! I'm so proud to see this recognition. It's well deserved.

Jason Jackson Posted 7 months ago

Mr. Webb is indeed a life-changer. When I first had the opportunity to work along side him, I observed him as a leader's leader. He led a men's ministry group of over 300 men serving and facilitating several seasons of Men's corporate bible study. He has also served tirelessly as an Educational Leader with the DeSoto ISD making a significant impact on the lives of numerous students as well as adults. His servant leadership is hands-on and very authentic and transparent. He posses a cool and calm demeanor which is extremely beneficial in being an adaptive and responsive leader. Mr. Webb is the type of leader that is relatable, approachable, and transformative to various generations.

Mr. Webb is not just a life changer of students but he intentionally breathes life into the dreams of his staff. When I arrived in 2017 from NYC, Mr. Webb invited me in for an interview that started my journey as an English teacher and Restorative practitioner. He believed in me and invested in making sure he expanded my skills. When it was time for me to leave DAEP, he stayed in touch and allowed me to continue to work with him as a volunteer. I am grateful to him for modeling humility and servant leadership. Congratulations Mr. Webb for your impact in DeSoto and beyond.

To be on the sideline of your child's life journey has been a joy and blessing for me. My son has shown maturity, responsibility, and the rebound ability from the challenges of his life that any single parent (mother) would rejoice behind. Of course, anyone may say - a mother would support and promote their child; but to have others see those aspects in your child is a testament of itself. Proud of you son - keep on the path that God has set you on!!!

Mr. Webb, my son is an absolutely wonderful dedicated educator, son, father and leader of men.
