Wytavia Andrews was nominated by Camille Conley, the parent of a student.

"My child has struggled with math for several years now. We have tried so many different things to help her understand the concepts. This year, she is in the sixth grade, and I was super worried about how things would go because math gets harder each year. When I say my child has done a complete 180 under Ms. Andrews' instruction, I mean it," said the nominator. "Ms. Andrews is so patient with her."

Ms. Andrews shows her students multiple methods, from how their parents were taught to the new way of solving math problems. She doesn't care which method students use as long as they get the answer right at the end! She makes learning fun and even plays music during class, which helps students feel less stressed. The environment in her classroom feels like home. She doesn't allow bullying, so the kids feel safe to ask questions without being made fun of for not knowing the answer.

"She communicates with all the parents about homework and upcoming tests. I love this because I am the parent who helps my child every night with homework and studying. I appreciate everything she does for my child and all the kids in her classroom. We still struggle with certain things, but my child seems to understand math better than she did in the past. Her grades have never been better," said the nominator.

Coach Andrews has been one of my cheer coaches for several years now. However, her unwavering love and commitment to supporting her athletes didn’t stop at the cheer mat. She consistently stays up to date on the well-being of both her current and former athletes. She doesn’t just care about how we perform—she cares about who we are, how we’re doing, and where we’re headed in life She has always been a mentor to me, and I’ve always known that I could come to her regardless of the situation. I’ve never once felt judged—only loved and heard. To know her is to love her, and anyone who has the opportunity to meet Coach Andrews would say the same. Her personality is shaped by her passion—the passion to help those around her.

Coach Andrews is my co-teacher. This is my first year teaching. She has been the most positive influence on me this year. She has taught me how to teach with creativity and enthusiasm, discipline with purpose and love, motivate with excitement and energy, and just be an all around great teacher. Always showing up for her students, I cannot think of a more deserving person for this award. The students love her, respect her, and look up to her. Her leadership and loving spirit will undoubtedly speak volumes in many children’s lives.

I can attest to this. I am a witness to the passion and love Ms. Andrews has for math as well as her students . My niece whom is also in her class transitioned from North Carolina to Georgia and was behind in math and struggled a lot. Since September, my niece has improved in math as well as grown as a student. Thank you Ms. Andrews for meeting the students where they’re at and helping them progress. We are thankful for you and the many other students you have helped. The results show.
