Lester Dempsey was nominated anonymously.

"Mr. Dempsey helped me to realize my talent for CADD engineering, even though I had no interest in it. Even though I was a female, he pushed me even harder and didn't let that become an excuse for me. Because of him, I found a degree I truly excelled in and have gone on to get my Master's and, later on, a career in this field," said the nominator.

Mr. Dempsey encouraged my daughter to strive for excellence. He introduced her to a world she didn't know she was right for. She will be attending the University of Southern Alabama School of Engineering in the fall as a double engineering major and I have Mr. Dempsey to thank for that. He showed her that a woman can excel in a male-dominated profession. Thank you Mr. Dempsey for helping Jaelynn realize her career path.

I have heard all about Mr. Dempsey’s dedication to his students. But, it wasn’t till I stepped into a parent meeting on behalf of my son for my granddaughter, who is Mr. Dempsey’s student. I had heard all about Crazy Mr. Dempsey in a respectfully good way. The kids are attentive to all he has to offer. I was impressed with his protective, 100% dedication, to all his students learning and success to go as far as they can with his program individually. He has shown to go above and beyond to support their growth. I hope he gets the recognition he so earned and deserves. Teachers like Mr. Dempsey are rare gems. Our kids are lucky to have his guidance!
