Jamie Walsh was nominated by the parent of a student, Tricia Garcia.

Ms. Walsh has demonstrated a deep love and profound passion for teaching. She has a positive effect on her students’ lives through math.

"My son had always loved math and was quite good at it," said Garcia. "Ms. Walsh immediately tapped into his love of math using an approach that made it a part of everything. She simplified it and made it memorable. She was able to make math so fun, engaging and stress-free that even though he was being taught a higher level of increasingly complex math, it appeared as if it wasn't."

This approach not only made his love of the subject grow, but it made his grades soar in all subject areas that he was able to apply the skills he learned. Ms. Walsh is also pivotal in giving many students within her class the opportunity to compete, representing the school in the Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools. This endeavor is a goal for all of her students. It keeps them focused on always doing their best in order to potentially earn such a coveted honor.

“I can honestly go on and on, but even with my short excerpt regarding Ms. Walsh, I'm convinced it's very clear that she is, and continues to be, a positive, impactful LifeChanger in and out of the classroom,” Garcia said.

Mrs. Walsh has been and will continue to be a teacher who's love of math and ability to transform her lessons into something both exciting and informative an advantage to all her students. The students who are fortunate to have been in her class come away with an appreciation of math that stays with them. Having met some of her past students I am always blown away by how much they think of her and refer to her as the best math teacher they ever had. They say that it was because of her teaching ability and genuine caring that made her a stand out teacher and inspired them to do their best.
