LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Luetica Leach was nominated by her colleague, Janet Perry-Candler. 

Mrs. Leach is an AU educator who goes above and beyond the call of being an educator. She is not only a teacher to her students, but in many cases, she is a caregiver, not only to the AU students in her class, but to the students in the general population, as well. She invests time, resources, and energy to ensure her students are cared for, not just educationally, but physically (basic daily needs).

"I have watched Mrs. Leach make sure that a student's hair, nails, and body was groomed. She has taken from her own pocket to purchase items for students who otherwise would not have these much-needed items," said Perry-Candler.

She receives phone calls from parents before and after school hours and on weekends. She never says "no" but receives little to no recognition for her tireless efforts to ensure that the AU students at Seventy-First High School are treated with the same care and recognition as the students in the general population. Mrs. Leach may never know how she has impacted the lives of the students in her class, but the parents and caregivers of her students are grateful for all she has poured into the lives of their child(ren).
