Wendy Peterson was nominated by a family member, Alphia Blanco.
Ms. Peterson has been a beacon of hope and inspiration for countless students, with over 15 years of teaching experience—13 years in high school and two years in middle school. She would spend her own money and stay before and after school hours to tutor many struggling students for her class and other classes. Or just to be there to hear them out. Last year, she moved to middle school to challenge herself more and make an impact on the younger age groups this time. As a dedicated educator and team lead in her department, she uplifts her students and empowers her colleagues to strive for excellence. Her impact extends far beyond the classroom. She actively participates in community groups, working tirelessly to support underprivileged children and young adults, ensuring they have opportunities to thrive. Her compassion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to making a difference make her a true LifeChanger. She embodies the qualities of an extraordinary educator, mentor, and community leader. It's a privilege to share her story and celebrate her incredible contributions!
"She is a role model to many and a LifeChanger to her students, the people she works with, the strangers-turned-friends whom she extends help to, and most of all, to me. I believe that she deserves this award and recognition, and she can use this grant for her students and classroom needs," said Blanco.
