David Woodward was nominated by an anonymous parent of a student.
It’s difficult to describe a person like Mr. Woodward. For hundreds of former and current students, he is the kind of mentor that keeps kids in school and focused on their goals. He has played every role you can imagine to students he didn’t have to care for. He has stepped in for parents who couldn’t be there, replaced parents who wouldn’t be there, and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with parents as they work to do their best to raise their children.
"I’ve witnessed him be so much to so many, but he doesn’t realize just how big his reach is," said his nominator. "He loves anyone who needs to be loved. He even loves those who may not even know they need to be loved. David gives 100% of himself until he has nothing more to give. Working hard for children is one of the proudest things a human being can do for our world, and Mr. Woodward is the model for us all. The smile in his profile picture is real. This man loves deeply and forever. We can all always depend on Mr. Woodward."
What a well deserved honor. David is one that works behind the scenes helping others. He loves students and offers them support in ways that might go unnoticed by many. Always smiling. Making life better for those around him.
I have worked closely with David for several years. He is a hard worker and does everything to perfection. He has been so supportive of the many students who have come and gone through Gautier High School. Students know if you're in their corner or not. We appreciate him more than he'll ever know!
Mr.Woodward is the type of person that can just look at you and tell how your day is going! He is also the type of person to do anything in his power to cheer you up. My days at the high school would have seemed ALOT longer without him.
There is SOOO much I could say about this man but I will say this- he is AMAZING!!! This man is selfless, generous, kind, loving, compassionate, etc. I could go on and on about him and anyone that knows him would say the same. He has supported children and adults that had no support, he has encouraged and loved those that had no one to love or encourage them, he has given even when he has little to nothing to give. He has bought shoes, clothes, toiletries, etc for kids that have none of the above and not asked for a dime in return- all he wants is for them to feel loved and appreciated. He has talked kids out of dropping out high school because they don’t have the support at home. He has fed all those kids that are “hungry” or need a snack, he will do anything that is asked of him without one single ounce of complaint. This man will give the shirt off of his back for anyone in need and wants zero recognition for it. He is truly AMAZING!!! He goes above and beyond to make everyone feel equally loved and cared for. Like I stated before, I could go on and on but I don’t have enough time in the day.
Mr Woodward ?? His love and support knows no limits . I can never thank you enough for all you did and still do .
I can't imagine my children being in High school without David Woodward! There's definitely an exhale of relief knowing he is at the school if they ever need anything! PGSD & all parents at GHS are lucky to have David there! My family certainly appreciates him!

David Woodward's has the sweetest spirit of any human being I know, second to my own husband. He has the desire to help you succeed in whatever goals you have for yourself. I'm truly blessed to call him my friend.

Gautier schools don’t always get the recognition they deserve. Mr. Woodward is a life changer / life saver he’s not only there for his/ our kids but for us parents as well. He was at the elementary school when my youngest started I’m so glad he was at the high school when she got there. He listens to the students and guides them gently most consider him their friend. I can not imagine a person more deserving of this award! We love you Mr. Woodward
