LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Johanna Demers was nominated by an anonymous colleague.

Ms. Demers works hard to meet the needs of her school and students.

"There’s never a day where I don’t see her positively interacting with the students of Martin Bluff," said her nominator. "She takes the time to ask about their activities and grades, and she remembers when they have an important event."

The students often have opportunities to show their individuality by dressing up for various themes, and they always look forward to seeing what Ms. Demers wears to school. The students love her and shower her with things they make, and she proudly displays them for the entire school to see.

"I’ve watched her fill in as a grandparent for events, spend time with students during lunch, ask students to help her when they're having a diffcult moment, and help them with their responsibilities, all while keeping our school clean and leading our team of custodians," said her nominator. "She’s always excited to keep the community informed with our events by keeping our marquee up-to-date. You can always depend on her for help and for a funny story. She’s a genuine person who fills so many roles at our school.  Students look up to her because she treats them all the same, works hard, never complains, always smiles, knows how to have fun, and is proud of them. Our school family wouldn’t be the same without her."
