Devontae Sisk was nominated by a student.

"Mr. Devontae Sisk has become very influential in my life throughout the short time I've known him," said the student.

Mr. Sisk always makes sure that his students are feeling okay and can detect when something might be off about a person.

"Every time I walk into my high school, I look for Mr. Sisk because nine times out of ten, he has on a goofy outfit or does something fun with his room that can help turn anyone's day around," the student added.

He is always open to listening to his students' problems and supporting them.

"As I was coming into school as a newly out lesbian, I was nervous that people would not accept me as I am, but when I met Mr. Sisk, he instantly made me feel welcome in his space," said the student.

He is always social with other staff members and helps prepare his students for life after school through business and finance classes. He is always professional but always manages to have fun, too. He is very relatable to students, understands how a teenage brain works, and makes connections students understand. Overall, Mr. Sisk is an incredible teacher who always makes his students feel safe and respected and provides a haven where anyone can be their true selves and not worry about anyone judging them.
