Heidi Beiler was nominated by a colleague, Christina Edwards.

Ms. Beiler serves as the Vocational Coordinator at Plainfield Academy, where she works with young adults aged 18-21, guiding them on their journey to independence by teaching essential vocational and life skills. Her passion for preparing students for the future goes beyond the classroom, impacting their education and lives. Ms. Beiler is the heart behind several initiatives that provide tangible support to students and their families. She was the driving force behind establishing the Care Closet, where students and their families can shop for essential items with dignity and respect.

"This program has become a lifeline for many in our community, especially during the challenging times many face. But Heidi's care doesn't stop there. Each week, she leads her students in implementing the Bags of Hope program, ensuring that students receive non-perishable food to take home. The fact that this program runs weekly is a testament to her commitment to ensuring no student goes hungry," said Edwards.

What truly sets Ms. Beiler apart, though, is the profound connection she has with her students. She is more than just a teacher—she is a mentor, advocate, and unwavering supporter. Her ability to reach her students, especially those who might struggle to trust or connect with others, is remarkable. They know that she will go to any length to help them succeed. Whether it's finding the right vocational opportunities, providing emotional support, or being a constant source of encouragement, Ms. Beiler is there. Her students don't just learn from her; they thrive under her care. She meets each one where they are, recognizing their unique strengths and challenges, and builds them up in ways that prepare them for the future. The trust and bonds she forms with her students are truly magical, and her influence is seen in their confidence, growth, and readiness for the world ahead.

Her nominator states, "Heidi's dedication to her students, school, and community is unparalleled. She embodies what it means to be an educator who changes lives for today and future generations. With deep admiration and gratitude, I nominate Heidi Beiler for the Educational LifeChanger of the Year award. She is a true inspiration and a beacon of hope for all who know her."

Heidi Beiler is an educator of the highest quality, and is richly deserving of her nomination for the Educational LifeChanger of the Year. In her current role as the Vocational Coordinator at Plainfield Academy, Mrs. Beiler has worked tirelessly to ensure that our students and their families are aware of, and taking advantage of, a myriad of community-based services and programs that will help students with disabilities access post-secondary education and / or full-time employment as they transition into adulthood. When new challenges emerge, Mrs. Beiler has proven to be an effective problem solver, and has leant her talent and energy to creating new supports / programs to meet the diverse and dynamic needs of the students and families that we work with. A notable example is Mrs. Beiler’s contributions to the establishment of the Plainfield Community Care Closet, which provides PSD202 families in need with winter clothing and school supplies, completely free of charge. Her knowledge, wealth of experience, and commitment to improving outcomes and opportunities for our students has also been invaluable to the entire staff at Plainfield Academy. Heidi leads by example, but also takes the time to mentor and support her colleagues, and help them become better at what they do. As a result, her impact in Plainfield CCSD 202 is both profound and long-lasting.

I worked with Heidi when she was a transition teacher and now as a vocational coordinator in our building. I cannot say enough about what a positive impact she has had on all the students in the building as well as the staff. She is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to transition planning and answers any question a special education teacher may have about helping their students. Heidi looks out for each student in the building even if she does not work with them directly. She offers advice and suggestions that are tailored to each student's needs. She is enthusiastic about her position and that enthusiasm is felt across all the programs and with the families. She continually reaches out to families to make sure they are supported and have the resources they need. Heidi exceeds expectations with the support and encouragement she gives and we are lucky to have her.

Heidi is a one of a kind who does anything and everything to support her students, colleagues and community. She is always a team player and kind spirit. She is always willing to lend a helping hand and make a difference. No task is too big or small. Heidi will take on any task and accomplish it while going above and beyond to ensure the best possible outcome. She recently arranged a community clothing donation event and worked endlessly to collect donation, sort them and get them hung up onto 30 plus shelving units for an event that was free for our community. She never waivered in her work ethic to ensure this event went off without a hitch! She is willing to lead in any aspect and also always willing to accept a lending hand if needed. She is an incredible person and great resource for her students, colleagues and community. She is always willing to give her time and if she doesn't know how to support someone she is always willing to learn in order to help. You can always see her around the building and always has a smile on her face greeting and sparking conversation with those she sees. She truly knows that everything she does has an impact on others whether it is a simple hello walking by in the hallway or a huge community event. Heidi can and does it all! She is a true life changer.

To whom it may concern: Heidi has spear-headed a community based outreach for families in need of clothing, etc. She donated countless hours of her time and effort to make the Care Closet event happen just before Thanksgiving this year. In addition, Heidi is selfless with her time and is willing to support any co-worker. She freely answers questions and clarifies information for those who are unsure, offering support and reassurance as well as quality ideas for instruction. Our building is greatly benefited by having Heidi as a resource!

Heidi is very deserving of this award. She pours her heart and soul into her career. She has a gift of knowing what people need and helps them reach their goals. Heidi has been my friend and neighbor for 8 years. During the pandemic, she dropped off school supplies and books to several neighborhood houses so we could all make sure our children were still learning at home. She organized a rotation for these supplies so several families benefited from what she provided. She goes above and beyond to not only help her students but also her community. Heidi is someone who sees a cause and will follow it to completion. I’ve never met anyone as organized as she is and to help others stay on point (at her wedding everyone had an assignment). I’ve watched her grow over the years and seen her ability to tackle many causes (Polar Dives, Special Ed Olympics) to mention a couple. I’ve watched her teach her kids to be better humans by setting examples. She helps with homework, after school activities, Girl Scouts, running cross country with her daughter coaching basketball for her son. She’s amazing at keeping family together. All of this while teaching school, taking after hour classes and living life. She’s my daughter-in-law and I’m better for it.

Heidi Beiler leads with her mind and her heart. I had the opportunity to observe her in the classroom. I was both impressed and inspired by her work ethic, connection with students, and love for her job. Heidi demonstrates professionalism both inside and out of the classroom. She goes above and beyond motivating others around her to do the same. Heidi takes her job seriously but remains flexible allowing her to problem solve on the spot and ensure opportunities for her students. I am lucky to know Heidi on a personal and professional level. She inspired me to become a Speech Therapist in an educational setting and continues to impact all of those around her in the most positive of ways.
