Havens is passionate about equalizing educational opportunities, especially for our most vulnerable populations who receive ELL and special education services. The district has a large population of refugees and asylum seekers living in tents. They’re finding shelter where they can and often come to school hungry and without the basic necessities for school such as school supplies and tennis shoes for fitness class. The school is a high-poverty school. Havens does her best to help equalize the playing field for them.
