Her passion for this cause helps bridge the gap and promotes equal opportunities for all students! She is also passionate about Academic success for all students; adequate school supplies are directly linked to a student's ability to perform well in school. When kids have the right supplies, they can focus on learning. Lastly, Overturf is passionate about building students' confidence! Students who have their own school supplies have a sense of pride and belonging...and feeling like they belong is absolutely critical for student success!

Sarah is an incredible human being! She cares so deeply about our students and our community. She is kind, genuine, and has dedicated countless hours both in and out of the classroom and her counseling office to our students and their families. Mrs. Overturf is awesome and always willing to help others! She helps with problems when kids need help. She is kind to teachers and students in and out of school I'm only in 6th grade and she is awesome!!! I love her smile and kind spirit though the day and the high fives she gives!!! My sixth graders says, "Mrs.Overturf has helped me so much. She took time to listen to me practice my speech for the State FCCLA competition and encouraging me to keep going." As a mom I know this was not part of her role as a counselor to help my child in another club, but she did! When my daughter was thinking of people to ask to help her prepare (she was so nervous to speak in front of judges at a state competion) she didn't hesitate to ask Mrs.Overturf. this counselor has made her feel valued and that builds my child's confidence in herself. Sarah Overturf is indeed deserving of recognition. She has invested so many years as a teacher and counselor to MAC students. Sarah is a Pasco girl who I remember going through the grades with as a peer! Yes, we walked those MAC halls back in our day. I had the privilege years later of meeting up again and being on the 7th grade team with her as a teacher at MAC. Now she is my daughter's counselor. It is amazing to see this circle of life and know that she is there to be one of those memorable middle school staff members for my daughter.

I worked with Sarah Overturf for many years at Mcloughlin Middle School. I watched her excel as both a teacher and a counselor. Her dedication and hard work were evident in all aspects, whether teaching in the classroom, counseling students, presenting to staff, or just being a good listener, she always goes above and beyond to be the best! She is extremely organized and focused on continuously learning and developing best practices to improve her skills working with her students effectively, all while being a great mom and wife. She is a positive role model for all! I am pleased to nominate for this award!
Ms. Overturf isn't my counselor at MAC, but she always smiles at people and wishes them a wonderful day. Her energy really makes middle school happier. I'm glad she works at my school. :D

I have worked closely with Sarah over the last 16 years as a teacher and now as her counseling partner. Sarah is a life changer! Not only for her students but for staff and parents too. Sarah is an amazing counselor and educator. I’m so happy to support her nomination for this award! I worked with Sarah for more than 10 years. She was a middle school teacher at McLoughlin Middle School when we first worked together. I was a school counselor, and she was the kind of teacher I wish every student could have! Caring, hardworking, and engaging … she was all of that and more. She became a school counselor and was my colleague. We worked side by side on projects like College Bound and Natural Helpers, and planned school and grade level activities. Her special quality is being able to reach all students and her desire to do that. She is a gifted resource for teachers and parents, too.
