Ashley Radford was nominated anonymously.

One cause Ms. Radford is most passionate about is foster care, as she is a former foster parent and an adoptive mom. She has seen first hand how the foster system works, and wants to help improve it in any way she can. Ms. Radford knows that there needs to be better supports for kids in foster care, especially in our schools.

Ms. Radford is currently switching from spending 10 years as a high school counselor to being an elementary counselor...and the needs are completely different! She is basically starting fresh and moving between two schools, so in a lot of ways, she needs two of everything. For her counseling, she would like children’s literature books that work with emotions (specifically loving the book series A Little Spot of…), executive functioning skills, grief, and motivation. She also needs games and toys, play dough, and art supplies. Having these supplies will allow Radford to support the students' emotional growth, plan lessons that get them more exposure to quality books, and teach them strategies to be the best people they can be as they grow up.
