Ms. Owens is passionate about empowering students to make social, academic, and career choices that will enable them to live the best life possible. She is an elementary school counselor serving over 500 students. This year, Ms. Owens faces budget challenges. This is impactful, as the school served over 60 students qualifying for the McKinney-Vento Act last year, which provides rights and services to youth experiencing homelessness.
Ms. Owens states that the LifeChanger Back to School Grant would provide the students with what they need for the entire year. This grant would allow the students to be taught by more relaxed educators who could spend money supplementing curriculum instead of supplementing school supplies. Specifically, Ms. Owens would like to use the grant for crayola crayons, markers, pencils, paint, kinetic sand, play dough, therapy putty, Little Spot books, and fidgets.
