Jocelyn Whipps was nominated anonymously. 

"Resilience is the capacity to withstand or to recover quickly from difficulties. Nobody has recently taught me more about resilience than Dr. Jocelyn Whipps, an assistant principal at Brandon High School," said the nominator.

Dr. Whipps is an amazing principal who is described by a dear friend and coworker as "kind, hilarious, and smart. She loves all things Brandon High School, and she fiercely advocates for her teachers and our students. I can say that Dr. Whipps truly makes BHS a better place."

"Dr. Whipps was involved in a tragic car accident on September 15th, 2023. She was headed to chaperone the BHS football game when she encountered a flat tire. Dr. Whipps was pinned between two cars and had to be airlifted to UMMC with life-threatening injuries. After months in the hospital and rehabilitation, she could finally join us back at BHS. Her resiliency after this critical accident proves how amazing Dr. Whipps is," said the nominator.

One coworker said, "I love Dr. Whipps because she's so down to earth. She has a wonderful rapport with her students and always supports her teachers."

"I can not imagine our lives without such a radiant, positive, and resilient coworker and friend, and I am so thankful she is back at Brandon High School," said the nominator.
