Music that Describes Richard

Richard Nagy was nominated by a student.

"My LifeChanger is determined, just, and caring," said the student.

"My LifeChanger has done multiple events to help our community. He has held a toy drive every year to gift kids with fewer opportunities presents and a harvest drive to collect food for people in shelters and in need. He sponsors my school's MOSS (Make Our School Safe Again) Club, helping instill a sense of security and safety into our school and helping to do multiple projects like " bonding buddies." Our members go to the elementary school every once in a while to spend quality time with the kids, and we complete multiple activities and fun things with them," said the student.

"My LifeChanger is always there for his students, even when he has multiple other things to do; if he sees you down, he'll sit and talk with you and help you sort it out. My LifeChanger makes sure to encourage his students to do multiple knowledgeable projects for not only his class to learn but the whole school, as one time he made our class do posters of informational cards of important and impactful African American people in the U.S to help spread knowledge to our school in Black History Month," said the student.

"A short story with my LifeChanger that impacted me was on the last day of school last year, and I was feeling down; he saw me, and he knew I was upset, so he called me over to talk. I ended up telling him how I felt. He told me this: 'When you first walked in this room, I knew something was special about you; it's something you can just see in someone's eye, and I knew you were a good kid.' Even that short sentence impacted me because I felt like it was worth staying if even one person thought that of me, that I could do good in the school that I am, and that I should make the most of it," said the student.

Mr. Nagy continues to be an exceptional teacher who brings genuine care into everything he does. His passion for history is obvious in every lesson, and he has a remarkable ability to turn complicated topics into interesting discussions that connect to the world we live in today. Because of him, learning never feels like a chore. Instead, it feels purposeful. Mr. Nagy consistently shows that he truly cares about his students as people. He takes the time to support us through challenges both academic and personal. He creates an environment where everyone feels respected. Personally, Mr. Nagy has had a lasting impact on my love for learning. He didn’t just teach me historical facts, but he helped me develop curiosity. His influence has shaped how I approach school and my future, and I am incredibly grateful for the positive difference he continues to make.

Mr. Nagy is the most impactful teacher I've had in all 4 years of highschool. He's caring, consistent, and understanding. He holds all students in and out of his classroom to a high standard. He sees us for who we truly are. Before I met Mr. Nagy I thought most teachers were kind of robotic. Although some were more empathetic than others, he truly shatteres my perception. He goes the extra mile and provides a safe space for all kids in need of a mentor. He's also very generous. I believe he is a genuine Life Changer. So many students look up to him and respect him. I hope Mr.Nagy remains a teacher for a while longer so more kids can feel his impact. I am forever grateful for the way he's believed in me.

Mr. Nagy is more than just a teacher. He is a thought-provoker, a safe-space, and has a unique way of teaching that makes him stand out. I've learned so much about history in his class, both the good and the bad truths. His way of teaching will allow me to remember the topics for years to come. Not only that, but Mr. Nagy is just the guy to go to to find comfort. He is there for everyone always, and he truly cares about your feelings. He is one of the teachers I will go on to remember for the rest of my life.

Mr. Nagy is a great teacher. I had him for two years during my high school journey, and his class has been one of my favorites each year. It is also very remarkable how much he cares for his students and is passionate about his job as well as his other hobbies.

I have had Mr. Nagy as a teacher almost every year I have been in this school and he brightens my day every time I enter his classroom. His commitment to the school, the community, and to us as students is something you can hardly see in any other teacher. He is inspiring, genuine, welcoming, and most of all, he makes it clear to us that he is there if we need it. One of, if not the best teacher I’ve ever had.

Sean glenn Posted 6 months ago

Mr. Nagy is a teacher I’ve come to like over my years at pompano beach high school. He makes coming to class fun and it’s one of my only classes that I'm actually interactive during he makes a point to include everyone of his students in the lessons. He’ll say that he likes the girls more but I really know that he appreciates everyone of his students regardless of their gender. Mr. Nagy I'm glad that you were a teacher I met during my high school career you’ve made me think about what I'm going to do with my future and for that I can’t thank you enough. Truly one of my favorite teachers I’ve had. I might not show it in the class room but I’m grateful that I had your class.

Although I've since graduated, I continue to think of the kind words this man extended to me. Throughout my high school experience, Mr. Nagy always did his best to comfort me and his other students. He is a man of perseverance and ambition, working his absolute hardest to strengthen the community around him— truly a generous spirit.

Mr. Nagy is a teacher I would call a “LifeChanger”. He goes above and beyond in the classroom and outside of it as well. Aside from being an involved, caring, well prepared and helpful teacher he is also a tremendous asset to our community. Both in the High School and out. He organizes food and toy drives for our community, runs clubs and field trips to help us all broaden our minds and see life outside of our four walls. He is engaged in the fellowship of his students and all of the kids around us. His work with the local elementary school, whether through holiday toy drives or giving them the experience of visiting our student-led African American Studies museum, allows us to connect with our peers and our neighbors. He cares about everyone, always has time for us and never makes us feel like an outsider. I have seen firsthand (and heard of past stories) where even when he is going through his own trials he never lets anyone down. Teachers are truly role models but Mr. Nagy stands out as a stellar example of someone who really wants to raise everyone up. I will miss him when I graduate.

I just wanted to leave a message about the importance of Mr. Nagy. As a PBHS alumni and his TA, I've had the pleasure to see him make differences in other students lives, including mine. While always super busy, he still manages to have his heart open to be a wonderful teacher, mentor, and event organizer. While some teachers aspire to be one of these, Mr. Nagy manages to be all. I was his TA and we worked hard to create a productive classroom environment. Although the tasks were simple, Mr. Nagy always made sure to express his appreciation for my efforts. In the classroom, I've watched Mr. Nagy go above and beyond to teach his students not only the course material but lessons they'll need in life. When he's not teaching, he's advocating for the safety of our schools by sponsoring MOSS (Make Our School Safe) Club. Furthermore, he's a mentor to other students, sharing wisdom and guidance to any student who needs it. What Mr. Nagy does for our community is commendable as well. From toy drives, food drives, and even clothes drives, Mr. Nagy's love for the community shows no bound. He's done this all and the least we can do is award hin the Life Changer of the Year award. Cheers to you, Mr. Nagy.

Richard Nagy is more than just a teacher, he is a guiding light, a mentor, and a true hero to all who have the privilege of knowing him. The moment he walks into a room, his contagious smile and warm presence make everyone feel valued and supported. His passion for teaching Holocaust and African-American history and other subjects goes beyond the classroom; he instills in his students a deep understanding of the past while inspiring them to create a better future. Mr. Nagy is always there, no matter what, ready to help, encourage, and uplift anyone in need. His love for his students and his unwavering commitment to making a difference in the world are truly inspiring. He doesn’t just teach history, he changes lives by fostering empathy, kindness, and action. His impact is immeasurable, and I am forever grateful to have been one of his students.

Mr. Nagy embodies what it means to be a life changer, as he genuinely cares for his students and everyone around him. Unlike many others, he takes the time to ask how people are doing, showing a true interest in their well-being. His support during my most challenging moments, coupled with his consistent concern for my family, has made a profound impact on my life. I aspire to resemble his coolness, attentiveness, and caring nature. Something I'll never forget was participating in the annual Toy Drive with the Make Our School Safe (MOSS) club. It was heartwarming to hand out presents to children in need, brightening their Christmas. Throughout the event, Mr. Nagy’s genuine smile while distributing gifts truly captured his essence and aura. His dedication to our community and the happiness of others is inspiring, and I can't thank him enough for all he does.

Mr. Nagy is an amazing teacher. He never fails to make someone feel welcome. He always finds time in his class to teach something beyond the coursework and interact with his students. Mr. Nagy will always checkup on students, asking if everything is all right and showing how understanding he can be. His immense heart for his students has quickly become one of my favorite parts of my senior year. Thank you for all you do for your students Mr. Nagy!

Mylifechanger puts so much effort toward changing communities for the better. He has put countless hours towards disadvantaged elementary schools around our highschool. Additionally he fosters a safe space in his classroom in which students with any problem can go to him. In his classroom he made sure to highlight forgotten horrors of the past in order for them to not repeat. He made sure his students were knowledgeable about history that is never recounted. He has impacted the community inside our highschool and other communities surrounding our school.

Mr.Nagy’s class is a place I look forward to being in every week. I learn a lot in his class not just about the subject we are learning but a lot of life lessons as well. I have taken a lot of what he has said to heart about the importance of family, finances, etc. He is one of the first teachers that I feel I have had a connection to in a long time, his attitude in the classroom makes me feel included, welcome and genuinely improves my day. When I walk into his class it doesn’t just feel like any other period, it’s a place where I can come and learn freely, express my ideas, and converse with my peers and I am truly grateful to Mr.Nagy for creating this environment for his students.

Mr. Nagy was a great teacher because he truly cared about his students, not just as learners but as individuals. He had a way of making every student feel valued. Beyond academics, Mr. Nagy taught us valuable life lessons—about hard work, perseverance, and the importance of always striving to be better. Mr. Nagy was more than just a teacher; he was a mentor and an inspiration. His impact will stay with us long after we leave his classroom, and for that, we are truly grateful.

Coach Nagy was my football coach for 3 years. He was an excellent example of how to conduct yourself in situations that are challenging. He was able to guide me and help me achieve my goal of playing college football. Without him I don’t know if I would have met my wife and had my beautiful daughter and soon my baby boy. Nobody deserves this award more the Coach Nagy.

I had Mr. Nagy as a teacher for 2 years. My senior year I would still stop by his classroom because it felt like a safe space. Even though I wasn’t taking a class of his by that time, he still supported me while I was figuring out the rest of my life as a senior. Also, he is so determined to make a difference in the world and it was always inspiring! Thank you for everything Mr. Nagy!

Mr Nagy is an inspiring individual, and has always made an extreme effort in taking care of the students and teachers around him. Mr. Nagy creates such a welcoming and comfortable environment in his classroom. From the moment you walk in, you can feel that it's a safe space where you can be yourself and express your thoughts freely. One of the best things about Mr. Nagy is that he's always approachable. Whether you have a question about the lesson or need to talk about something personal, he's there to listen. He's not just focused on academic success; he genuinely cares about our well-being and personal growth. He makes learning fun at times, which helps everyone stay motivated about the subject.

Mr. Nagy single handedly changed the course of my life. He was the only person I felt comfortable talking to about an uncomfortable experience with another teacher during my time in high school. His unwavering support and care were the only reason I was able to become the person I am today. I am who I am because he is the life changer that he is. I have no doubt in my mind that I would have gone down a different path in my life if he was not there to help me. He is the teacher that you think about years after graduating, and the teacher that you brag about during conversations that reminisce the old days. He goes beyond a history teacher, he’s a lifelong mentor for many. There are very few teachers who can be remembered past graduation, he is someone you remember for life. I am so grateful that he is a position where he can continue teaching people that there is still good in the world. Thank you Mr Nagy for helping me be the best version I can be to the world.

Shane M Posted over a year ago

Mr. Nagy is my teacher for 3 straight periods. We have gotten closer over the past 6 months and he truly has made my senior year better than it already has because he is the type of teacher who cares about every student deeply. Each time he goes over life stories it’s genuinely touching because sometimes it’s relatable, and some times it’s just a wake up call. When I asked him what he thought about making a lot of money, he told me that it’s not everything and you’ll realize when you have a family. I enjoy taking his advice even if it’s with a grain of salt, and I’d say he’s definitely that one teacher where you can get along with on a deeper level than just “here’s classwork go do it.” I’m grateful for Mr. Nagy, and he’s definitely changed my viewpoint of life.

Mr.Nagy was my teacher for my freshman and senior year of high school. In between that he was the person I would go to when I needed help in anything. He gave me the motivation and knowledge to help me through high school and now college! He never lets any of students feel belittled, as he would allow us to talk amongst the class with our ideas and opinions. On top of that Mr. Nagy gave students opportunities to help benefit our community such as; toy drives, our MSD memorial garden, and leading the MOSS club. He is dedicated to his students at Pompano Beach High School and is definitely one of the greatest teachers there. PBHS would not be what it is today if it weren’t for Mr.Nagy

After my first semester with Mr. Nagy, I am looking forward to this upcoming one. He is an amazing teacher and I as a senior, I am going to miss him the most. He has been the most kind, respectful, and sympathetic man at our school, and I among many people feel safe around him. In addition to his compassion, he loves his community and contributes the most to the toy drive and he cares the most about the young people he knows. I’ve learned so much in Mr. Nagy’s class and I’m really hoping my little brother has a class with him because young impressionable minds deserve someone like him to shape them into the good people they will grow up to be.

If I had to describe Mr. Nagy, it would be as a teacher who puts his students first. Many teachers care only about getting the results and going home, but Mr. Nagy truly goes out of his way to make sure we are ok and we have a fair shot to succeed. I have never met a teacher with this much investment in his students, and I am grateful that I have had him as a teacher!

I’ve had Mr. Nagy for a semester and I immediately realized that this class was going to be exciting, interactive, and fun. Someone who walks in the class can see how much Mr. Nagy cares about his students and he does everything in his power to make sure all of us are taken care of inside of the school and out. Whether it’s his jokes or charisma, Mr. Nagy truly is an amazing teacher and he deserves this reward.

Mr. Nagy is one of the most genuine teachers I’ve ever had. He encourages his students and motivates them to give their full effort and achieve academic success. Mr Nagy is not only a great teacher, but just a very genuine person. He always makes sure his students feel welcome in his classroom and makes it such a fun environment for the students. He’s funny, sweet, and has a great heart. He knows how to joke around, but also knows when to be serious when he has to be there for one of his students. That’s what you need the most from a teacher, someone you can count on like a friend. especially when you’re around them every week, you wouldn’t want to be frustrated when you walk into class. I have never walked into class stressed out or not looking forward to seeing him, he makes it very easy to want to show up (and that’s coming from someone who misses school pretty often haha). He engages with everyone, makes class fun, and makes our class feel like home. Mr Nagy is great!!:)

Mr.nagy is is what you would call a real teacher. There a lot of great teachers who teach well at their subject and prepare you well for exams, but Mr.Nagy is above that. Mr.Nagy is the type of teacher who prepares you to handle life itself. The stuff Mr.Nagy teaches isn’t things you forget after the test, they are things you will use in the real world. Apart from his awesome lessons, Mr.nagy is that one teacher that no matter whether you’re loud, quiet, a good student, or maybe one that’s often in trouble Mr.nagy will always make you feel included and supported. Personally I’m more on the awkward quiet side and I stay to myself, but in Mr.nagys class I truly feel like I’m part of the group and that it’s ok to be myself. Mr.Nagy is truly an amazing human being and that one person you can go to no matter what happens and no matter who you are. In Mr.nagys class you will always leave with something good!

His teaching is also efficient, in my opinion. I retain all the information he shares with us. Also, he makes a difference. I've noticed that several times during my enrollment at PBHS he's hosted clothing drives, toy drives, and he's even organized a black history museum in honor of black history month, this year being the second time I believe. Thank you for what you do Mr. Nagy!

Mr. Nagy was always the teacher I could look up to whenever I needed advice or talk with someone when I felt like I had nobody. In the two history classes I had him in, he would always encourage us to apply our points of view in the lessons we were learning to help us better understand how the world worked back then and how different it is today. I’ll never forget how he took us to a food bank one Saturday to help distribute food for the community and the impact of learning the importance of helping one another and bringing the community together. I’m so grateful to have had him as a teacher.

Scott H Posted over a year ago

I have only had Mr. Nagy for about six months now, but I can confidently say that he is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He never fails to make his classes both fun and engaging. Right at the door, he interacts with his students, fist-bumping us as we walk in the door. From the moment I sit in my seat, I am already excited about the class. He can make difficult lessons understandable. I always know that once the class is over, I will be walking out with a smile and a greater understanding of the lesson at hand. Not only is Mr. Nagy a great teacher, but he is also able to connect with students on a deeper level, which some teachers are unable to. He is always there for his students, whether that be attending a student's sport game or just being an ear for someone to talk to. I am proud to be a student in Mr. Nagy's classes and I would not choose any other government, economics, or philosophy teacher.

This is only the beginning of the selfless actions he has done just to see smiles on people’s faces and know he is changing the world, even if it is just a little bit at a time. Personally, Mr.Nagy has helped me through many problems I have had over the past three years I’ve had him as a teacher. He is a reliable person to come to and I am grateful he was always there for me and for anyone else. I am very proud to call Mr. Nagy my teacher. This year was my first year having him as an official teacher and to be honest, I didn't think I'd survive his class. I remember the first day of school, he told my class that if we didn't participate, we wouldn't succeed. Hearing this immediately made me nervous because I'm super shy. As time went on, I got more and more comfortable with speaking up, not because I gained confidence, but because Mr. Nagy made it a safe space to share our opinions. Being in his class has truly given me the confidence to speak up and I truly enjoy attending, not only to learn, but to also laugh since he's one of the funniest teachers at PBHS. Mr. Nagy is a dedicated man that loves his job and students which is why I believe he should win LifeChanger of the Year.

Meeting Mr. Nagy during my freshman year of high school was nothing short of life changing. When I lost my parents in 2013, he wasn’t just a teacher—he became a pillar of unwavering support, a source of kindness and understanding that I desperately needed. Now, at 25, I hold an endless amount of gratitude for this incredible man. His heart of gold and boundless passion for life and people continue to inspire me every single day. He played a profound role in shaping the woman I am today and watching him lead and uplift generations is nothing short of breathtaking.

Mr. Nagy is one of those teachers that doesn’t feel like your stereotypical teacher. He has never been rude or disrespectful to any of his students and teaches effectively. He changed my view of highschool after being the one person I could go to when I was down. He deserves recognition and I believe he’s the greatest teacher I’ve ever had.

I was only Mr. Nagy's student during my sophomore year in high school and now I'm a sophomore in college, and even after 4 years he is still leaving a lasting impact on my life today. Although he was my history teacher, he gave me multiple opportunities to let my art flourish, from letting me paint a mural on his classroom wall to letting me illustrating a wonderful book he wrote. Mr. Nagy truly listens to his students and helps them find ways to express themselves and their passions and supports them in being their most authentic selves.

I had the privilege of being a student in Mr. Nagy’s history class during high school, and I can confidently say that he is one of the most impactful educators I have ever had. He didn’t just teach facts, he encouraged critical thinking, discussion, and a deeper understanding of the world. Beyond the classroom, Mr. Nagy has continued to be a source of support throughout my academic journey. Even after high school, he offered me encouragement as I pursued my bachelor’s degree. Now, as I work toward becoming a doctor in veterinary medicine, I am incredibly grateful for his continued belief in me. Great teachers leave a lasting impact, and Mr. Nagy is one of the best. I am lucky to have had him as my teacher.

Mr. Nagy is an exceptional teacher who has made a profound impact on countless students. As an alumna from the class of 2019, I am incredibly proud to support his nomination for Life Changer of the Year. Beyond his role as an educator, Mr. Nagy is a guiding light and a force for good within our community. He exemplifies an unwavering commitment to service, kindness, and compassion, consistently inspiring his students to create positive change. Pompano Beach High School is a remarkable place to learn and grow, and Mr. Nagy is a prime example of the outstanding educators who make it so special. As a pillar of support for his students, he remains a constant source of guidance and encouragement, no matter the challenges his students present. Mr. Nagy's passion for teaching and his efforts to make our community safe extend far beyond the classroom, making him a true Life Changer. His influence will resonate for years to come, and he undoubtedly deserves this recognition. Thank you, Mr. Nagy, for everything you do. You inspire us all to be better, do better, and believe in the good we can contribute to the world.

I had Mr. Nagy for 3 out of my 4 years at PBHS and he was exquisite. No matter the subject, he always knew how to keep the students engaged and would make sure to remind us that history reflects in our modern timeline. He is always there for his students in and after class, and I would truly recommend that every student should try to sit down and have at least one conversation with this gentleman, he knows a lot. Thanks for everything Mr. Nagy!

I had the pleasure of having Mr. Nagy as my teacher in high school. He is the type of person who goes above and beyond for his students. He is positive, caring, supportive, and an overall amazing person. He truly made my high school experience so much better and had such an amazing impact on my life. He pushed me to succeed and made me aware of the potential I had no clue I could have. To this day, I still think about how he impacted my life for the better, and he is extremely deserving of this award! <3

Mr Nagy made such a profound impact on my life. He was my teacher when I lost 4 of my friends in the MSD shooting. He not only supported me mentally, but also helped me start the Make our Schools Safe club at PBHS to help make our community safe. We promoted mental health and school safety awareness together, from hosting Stop the Bleed trainings, to fundraising thousands of dollars for Stop the Bleed kits in each classroom. Mr Nagy listened to everything I had to say as a 14 year old with a mission, and he set me up on the course my life is on today. I received a BS in Biology from Georgia Tech, and now I’m off to medical school to continue being an advocate for people in my community. I couldn’t recommend anyone else more for this LifeChanger title, because truly, Mr Nagy changed my life for the better. I wouldn’t be half the person I am today without his guidance and support.

He always made effort to check in on us whether it was about school or life in general. I wish I had a teacher like this in college because of the impact Mr. Nagy truly had. Mr. Nagy is undoubtedly one of the most influential teachers I've had throughout my academic journey. From the moment I stepped into his classroom as a freshman, I could immediately sense his passion for teaching and being a mentor. His dedication goes far beyond the material he covers—he makes it his mission to create an environment where students feel truly at home. Whether it's something as simple as sharing a snack with a hungry student or reminding someone of their worth after failing a tough test, Mr. Nagy always goes the extra mile to show he cares. Additionally, he has always been there for me in times of I felt lost and especially during times when I made mistakes. No matter what, he’s never made me feel ashamed of my errors or like I was a flawed person because of them. Instead, he’s been a constant source of support, guiding me through challenges and helping me learn from them without judgment.

He helped a team of us compete in Washington DC for a Invent2Prevent competition where we explained our initiative Bonding Buddies, which is a partnership with our local elementary school where we meet with the students and create a positive environment for the young kids. He taught me important and impactful life lessons, and practical ones too, like how to change a tire. His guidance filled me with a tremendous amount of self esteem because he saw the best in me and encouraged me to reach my highest potential. He was also tough on me and brought it to my attention when I wasn’t acting like the best version of myself. When he became a teacher, I was thrilled, because I knew that his gift of guidance and wisdom would be imparted to any student who was lucky enough to have him as a teacher. This was the greatest way for his gift to be shared with the world. It’s nice to read his students accounts of how he’s impacted their lives, yet it comes as no surprise. The education system, and our community as a whole, is better because Rick is in it.

Mr. Nagy is one of the fewest teachers I've had that I could tell genuinely cared about his students education and wellbeing after high school. He is so incredibly selfless, passionate, inspirational, compassionate, and funny, and has a way of keeping his class engaged and students eager to learn. At the beginning of every school year he tells his new students, "you're probably going to hate me for the first week, but after that you'll learn to love me." The only thing he was wrong about with this statement was that it would take a whole week for his students to fall in love with his class and his way of teaching. It usually only takes 30 minutes. Mr. Nagy has an extremely welcoming, loving, and supportive energy, and it shows when his students never want to leave his class. As most of us can relate to, high school is one of the most awkward, stressful, unbearable phases a person can go through. But with Mr. Nagy and his support, kindness, and guidance, it's not as bad. Mr. Nagy was meant to be a teacher, and I am forever grateful that I got the chance to be his student.

Being in Mr. Nagy’s class was honestly the best choice for my last year of high school. Since sophomore year, i’ve been trying to take his class because of the inspiration i’ve felt from him. I remember one time the school was doing a food drive, and the food was being dropped in his room. Once I had taken my food to the room, Mr. Nagy was surprised of how much I brought. He asked me “What drives you to do this?” I told him simply that “I just like to help people.” Mr. Nagy told me something that day that still resigns with me. He told me that he saw greatness in me, and that I could be the change I want to see in the world. I left the classroom trying not to cry because I felt so happy about not only feeling validated, but having a true purpose. Mr. Nagy is not only a great teacher, but an inspiration to me on how to be a good human being. Seeing his name on my class schedule this year had me ecstatic. I’m very thankful for his inspirational words that still ring in my mind to this day. :)

I can tell he loves making the less fortunate feel loved and cared for and he has the best intentions in making the world better. #LOTY

Richard Nagy is my high school history teacher. We’ve only been in school for 3 weeks, but let me tell you he already changed my view on life. He’s expressed to us to be kind to others, and do nice things for people, not to get something in return, but because it will impact that persons life and make you feel good about yourself. One example is when he told us that he used to coach football, and a few students couldn’t afford cleats in order to play, so he went out and bought 4 pairs of cleats for the students out of his own pockets. He’s also the teacher running the MOSS (make our schools safe) club, and they do toy drives constantly. One student couldn’t afford to buy a toy to give to the elementary school, so Mr.Nagy gave the student money to buy a toy, to feel included and like that student made a impact to the kid the toy was for. He also lets us know his classroom is a safe place and a judgement free zone. People have come out to him, and went to him with serious mental health issues, and he helps them. I know he’s touched the lives of everyone he’s ever spoken to, and if anyone deserves this title, it’s my teacher Mr.Nagy.

#LOTY Mr. Nagy is currently my teacher for Holocaust/African History. Although I have only been in his class for a few weeks now, I realize he is a very influential and impactful person. He is able to connect well with students while teaching in a very unique manner. I’ve not only learned a lot about the subject but he also has taught the class about life lessons including equality and respect which is crucial as we are growing up.

Mr. Nagy is one of my current teachers and I am lucky enough to have him twice this year. He is one of the most funny, loving, selfless teachers. He is always caring for his students in and out of the classroom. He puts his students needs before his own just so we know that we always have someone there for us. I can’t think of a better person to be nominated for the Lifechanger of the Year award.

#LOTY. If I was told to describe Mr. Nagy in three words, they would be selfless, compassionate, and inspirational. Mr. Nagy has a rare ability to empathize with his students to guide them towards success. He crafts a welcoming and benevolent environment by unfailingly placing the needs of others before his own. Everyday, he makes an extraordinary and observable impact in our community, leading as an example for all to follow.

Mr. Nagy was a teacher of mine many years ago… and I still hear his voice in my head at times. Mr. Nagy isn’t just a teacher. He’s a supporter, he’s a voice of wisdom, he’s a bright shiny light in a world that feels dim at times. High school was a turbulent time for me, as it is for many. Without Mr. Nagy’s guidance and kindness and support, I’m not sure I would’ve made it though those times. He changed my life, in irrevocable ways. He gave me advice that I, today, give to others. I believe that some people come into our lives when we most need them, to be our guiding angels. Mr. Nagy is undoubtedly one of my angels… as I’m sure he has been to many others.

Mr. Nagy works to improve the lives of others through service.

LS Posted over a year ago

Mr. Nagy’s service to others expands beyond the walls of his classroom. Not only does he teach his students the skills necessary to be successful in college and the workplace, he also teaches them to work together and think critically for service learning projects. With his guidance, students have raised funds, collected food, clothing items and gifts for local homeless shelters.

#LOTY Mr. Nagy is an excellent teacher who is extremely passionate about history and who makes learning engaging and entertaining for all of his students. He always makes it clear that he’s there to support each and every one of his students and he has even helped me with issues outside of the school environment. He has always made his students feel valued. For me personally, he made me want to learn more about history and how it impacts us today, sparking an interest for knowledge not only for history but for all subjects, which I believe is something all students should have.

My LifeChanger has heavily impacted my life since the day i met him. He was my instructor for two class periods during my freshman year of high school, and it was an absolute honor to see him every school day. I remember the feeling of walking into his classroom and feeling at home, as he would greet me with the warmest smile and remind me that I had a bright future ahead of me when I wouldn’t be having a good day. He was always supportive, and congratulated me on the little victories I didn’t see much importance in. My favorite memory with him was during our last week of school where he was handing out his own personal awards to the students who he felt made an impact, and before I knew it he was giving a lengthy speech about all the things he loved about me, and it left me teary-eyed. I’d sit and cry about that moment for months afterwards feeling grateful for having him in my life, and while most people would just look at that award as just some useless piece of paper, it’s my daily reminder that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. My light just so happened to be a history teacher.

My LifeChanger has helped me in so many ways. Whether it was school related or personal, he was always there for me to talk to him. He never passed on any judgment and he always tells me the truth, even if it was hard to hear, he knew exactly what I needed to hear to move forward. Not only has he made me a better student, but a better person as well. He spends so much of his time helping our community and trying to make the world a better place. He always says, “it all starts with one toy, one can, one shirt to put a smile on even just one persons face and that makes it all worth it”. He genuinely believes in the good in people and gives everyone a chance. He demonstrated to me that there is good in the world, we just need to find it and spread it to others. He is selfless, hardworking, and genuinely the best teacher I have ever had. I couldn’t think of a better person to be named as my LifeChanger. #LOTY

I know Richard Nagy as Coach, teacher, and a member of our extended family. As a Coach, he cultivated an atmosphere of perseverance and inspiration on his football team, the years my son had the privilege of playing on his team. It is a very special memory. He taught lessons that reached beyond the Friday night lights to all the boys. It is rare to see a group of young men with such an extended tight connection, especially in this high tech, highly transient community of South Florida. Coach created a lifelong brotherhood on his team…a priceless gift. As a teacher, he challenges his students…my children were fortune enough to be apart of his classroom. He created a safe learning environment that extended beyond the classroom. I have witnessed his personal sacrifice of time to many students on the high school campus. I have also witnessed him go above and beyond, helping his adult ESOL students. He never accepts compliance, only a student’s best. As an extended member of our family. He has supported our family through highs and lows. He has taken personal time to encourage, motivate and support. These are not just random acts of kindness, but intentional commitment Coach demonstrates in all aspects of his life. He is a life changer, a life changer that will always be Coach to us.

Mr.Nagy shows support for his students unlike anybody i have seen. Not only does he take interest in his students life and education, but he makes great efforts to get them involved in the community and gets them to care about the community as much as he does. I have never had a teacher to not only teach me the subject material but also explain the real life significance and application for what we are learning as much as Richard Nagy. #LOTY

My LifeChanger was there for me when I was diagnosed with a chronic illness in 2018. I had a severe concussion my freshman year and a shoulder repair surgery the following year. I was having a really hard time with my health issues and he was always there to help me in any way he could. He cared about my mental health and would always make sure I was doing okay. Sometimes he would even have me stay after class ended just to talk. My LifeChanger cares about his students wholeheartedly and is one of the best teachers I have ever known.

My LifeChanger had one of the most significant impacts on not only my highschool experience, but my life overall. He would always preach "teachers are here at this school, obviously to teach and help students learn, but more importantly they're here to support and be there for you". I for one can certainly hold him to his word and count on it beyond belief. From the first day of school when I walked in the door, he told me "there's just something about your presence, you light up any room you walk into, and I know you're going to accomplish great powerful things" and from that day on whenever I'm feeling down or unmotivated, I always find a way to remind myself of him telling me that, and it completely reroutes my mind and encourages me to keep going and to accomplish my goals. During my senior year, I had a very rough patch, and my Lifechanger had the compassion and dedication to be there for at all times. When I felt I had no one to turn to and so misunderstood, he made it so easy to talk to and get everything off my chest. He made me feel recognized, understood, and above all not alone. He ensured his trust and care, and I am now a junior in college writing this, still being able to consider him to be one of the most trustworthy, attwntive, and passionate people I've ever met. My Lifechanger is someone you could confide anything to. His passion for what he does and his care for his students, friends, and family is truly inspiring. Passion and care are such understatements to the dedication and wholeheartness he applies to his work and time everyday. Because of him, I kept fighting to get into my dream school and achieve things I didn't even know were possible. I can't thank him enough.
