"Hilda Cruz, the School Climate Advocate at Chester W. Nimitz Middle School, has been instrumental in transforming the school's atmosphere, fostering connections with students, staff, parents, and the wider community. This dedication recently culminated in Nimitz Middle School being honored as the 2023-24 Capturing Kids' Hearts National Showcase School. Additionally, we have submitted for the Gold Ribbon PBIS award, further underscoring our commitment to excellence in the school climate," said Jauregui.
"Over her three-year tenure, Ms. Cruz has successfully integrated Restorative Justice Circles into the school's disciplinary approach, promoting understanding and resolution within the student body. Ms. Cruz actively imparts the CKH curriculum to students, fostering empathy, communication, and positive peer relationships. In addition, Ms. Cruz spearheads engaging and educational lunchtime activities, supported by generous donations from the National Life Group, enriching the school experience for Nimitz students. Through outreach efforts, Ms. Cruz cultivates partnerships with local businesses to promote a positive school climate, facilitating rewards for students through the Seahawk dollars initiative and the Seahawk Store in the Wellness Center," said Jauregui.
