LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Mary Faulk was nominated by her principal, Kristie Taylor.

Mrs. Faulk, a kindergarten teacher, is THAT teacher…the person colleagues rely upon for advice, counsel, comfort, and professional guidance.  The guidance she offers is ethically sound, as she encourages or challenges her peers to always do the right thing for students. Year after year, she provides her students with a classroom filled with love and clear, rigorous expectations. For years, she served as the union president, and while she has stepped down from that role, she continues to be vocal and supportive of initiatives that improve the quality of education her school is able to provide. In a rural district, students can have limited access to national programs that are more often found in cities and cultural centers. Mrs. Faulk brings programs to her little corner of the world as often as she can. One example is when she scoured every Walgreens in the tri-county area to get enough red noses for each and every student, faculty, and staff member to participate in Red Nose Day to fight child poverty. Additionally, she works to infuse positivity into everything by being the unofficial in-house “party planner” – organizing events and other recognitions of a job well done or other life celebrations. She is a true asset to her students and colleagues!
