Veronica Mackey was nominated by her colleague, Pam Bethke.
Mrs. Mackey gives her all to not only help teenagers succeed, but to make her school a better place. She sponsors numerous clubs such as the Gamma Girls (High School Girl Scouts) and Women with Dignity. She attends almost every sports game and school event, and is always willing to volunteer to help, no matter who needs it.
Mrs. Mackey creates a positive atmosphere at her school through her boundless empathy. She is one of the greatest listeners for any student or teacher who needs a shoulder to lean on.
"When I go to a football game, one-act play, tennis game, girls’ softball or basketball game, I know Mrs. Mackey is there to cheer for SPHS, and I am not alone," said Bethke. "Veronica volunteered, at the last minute, to help me DJ the student recognition program to ensure our students had the best day. I could not have asked for a better person to help - she was not only able to provide some music that we all loved, but she was great on the mic with students, as well."
Students in her classes are prepared for college, a career, or anything else that may come their way because she instills confidence, academic growth, and lifetime learning. Her passion for learning, students and school is infectious.

My mom is the most dedicated teacher i have ever met. She puts all of her time and energy in her students and her job, even well after 4 o clock when the school day ends. She is very passiomate about her job amd truly cares about the well being of all her students. I have seen many students that even after graduation, have reached out to my mom just to let her know how much of a positive impact she had on their lives. She has been doing this since I was in 4th grade and actually started as one og my teachers and now as a 31 yr old adult i see the same dedication she had when she first started. She is def one of the greatest teachers this world was blessed with.
I’ve known Miss Mackey for almost 10 years. I’ve witnessed her pour her heart into her students as well as into her own daughters. She is a wonderful person and she deserves to be the Life Changer of the Year.
Veronica Mackey is a life-giving leader! She is an educator who lives the motto of no student left behind. She gives hope, love, support, inspiration and encouragement to all whom she encounters! She has made a lasting impact in both of my sons lives and I am truly thankful! Being an educator is not just a job for her but it’s her passion.
Ms.Mackey (my mother) is one of the teachers that show tough love. She is also a teacher you can't help but respect and love, because you realize she may be hard on you but it's because she is doing all she can to help you reach your full potential when a lot of other teachers are okay with you just barely making the grades she won't accept anything less than your best. She also takes time to reach out to the kids everyone else have given up on or labeled trouble. Most of those children that others have given up on are calling her mom by the end of the year and coming back to visit after moving on to the next grade and even years later. She has touched many lives and is still doing so now with a smile and open heart, this is why she is deserving of this award.
Ms Makey is such an amazing person to this day she still help me with writing my papers
Ms.Mackey is that type of person who you will never forget. She is an inspiration to many students at Stony Point and she teaches in a way that will benefit you. She’s very active at Stony Point whether it being school spirit, sponsoring clubs or caring for every single student she comes across. Whenever you are going through something it achieving something, she supports you all the way and makes you feel good about yourself. Me and many other students are so thankful for her, for she is a life changer!!!
Ms. Mackey is an amazing teacher. She does a lot for stony point, and I’m so proud to be a member of her many clubs that’s sponsors. Of the years that I’ve known her she’s always been someone who helps other succeed and I’m thankful for everything she has done for me and others. congrats Ms. Mackey !!!
Ms. Mackey was the best teachers I have ever encountered! She is patient, is always willing to lend a helping hand, and will give the shirt off of her back. I appreciate all that she has done for me! I have the utmost respect for her!
Mrs. Mackey is an amazing teacher and sponsor! Throughout my years of working with Mrs. Mackey as a leader in the Student Council organization, she has always been hard working and dedicated to the club. Her hard work inspires her students and the student council members and leaders including myself to always put in their best effort and to never give up.
Ms. Mackey most definitely deserves this award! She is no doubt all about the students and gives so much of her time....whether it's sponsoring clubs that our students want to start, volunteering with student recognition events and ceremonies. She's always available to her students to help them and encourage them in school. In addition, she organizes other student club events on the weekends and just has a big heart for our students and it shows daily. Students love her passion and her dedication to our school. Veronica has always been one of a kind. Giving her all comes as no surprise to me. People that know and love her knows that "life changer" is in her blood! Standing Ovation for your hard work, compassion, and dedication Veronica! This award is very well deserved.
The time I have spent with Ms. Veronica Mackey, she has proven to be upbeat, positive, and speaks of all "her kids" that she loves and mentors. She loves her school and all who enter those doors. Ms. Mackey is one of the hardest working women on campus. She serves our students with flair! She’s constantly there encouraging, pouring into, and discipline our students. Her students know that they are loved and can find encouragement with her. We work together in several clubs and it’s nevet a dull moment. The students love it! She’s a blessing to the campus in SO many ways!

There are many deserving educators, but of this I am certain...I have NEVER witnessed a teacher with as much devotion and compassion as my Mother, Veronica Mackey. I’ve spent almost my entire life watching her touch the lives of kids in Round Rock and San Marcos through teaching, coaching, mentoring, counseling, tutoring, sponsoring, and nurturing (to a point that so many of her students have become “adoptive” brothers or sisters/refer to her as Mom). My Mom spends countless amounts of hours being involved in several school clubs and programs, and a lot of her free time is still spent at the school after her shift has ended. I know for a fact that my Mother is helping to mold extraordinary students because I married one of them!

My time working with Veronica was a constant time of excellent teaching, high expectations for students and herself and tough, teacher love. She had personal and career disappointments, but was able to take the next positive step forward.
Veronica is also an excellent leader for the English II team, acting as the liaison between administration and teachers which can be more difficult than it sounds or should be. She is tireless in her efforts to mentor students in their pursuits, sponsoring multiple clubs and groups, and the students are drawn to her, before, during and after school.
