Position: Fundamentals of English and Reading Teacher
School: Sachse High School
School District: Garland ISD
City, State: Sachse, TX
Elizabeth Murdock was nominated by Rhonda Martin, the parent of a student.
Mrs. Murdock has been Martin's son's teacher for roughly five years. She taught him throughout middle school in her fundamentals of reading and English class and had the opportunity to move to high school the same year he did. She has seen him grow into the man he has become today.
Mrs. Murdock is a very talented teacher who goes above and beyond to help her students succeed. Her classroom environment is very welcoming and caters to each individual child’s learning. Her students want to learn, feel comfortable and relaxed, and have a great experience in their education.
"When we have meetings with Mrs. Murdock, I always see students who don’t even have her to come in to say hello and talk about how well they’re doing because of what she has done for them," said Martin. "She has made our lives so much easier, and has helped my son feel successful and comfortable in his other classes. She makes sure other teachers know his disabilities and weaknesses so they can ensure his success. We can always count on her, and she’s always there when we need her. She has always gone above and beyond."
"Even outside of school, if I have a question or need something, she is always right there to contact me," Martin continued. "I do not know what we would do without having her in our lives. She has made our educational experience a wonderful one. We more teachers just like her in our school systems. Teachers like Mrs. Murdock make the school experience so much better, and I feel safe having a child there. This teacher is truly a LifeChanger for every student she has."
