LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Alexander Rasas was nominated by a member of the community, Edward Sandstrom.

"Alexander is one of the most influential, inspirational, and positive educators in the public school system. He teaches culinary arts to students within LAUSD and is involved in the cooking competition program, amongst other schools. He leads his team to fantastic experiences! Alexander opens his doors to students of all levels, inspiring them to do good, be good, and make good," said Sandstrom.

"Alexander is the perfect candidate for the LifeChanger of the Year Award. I have firsthand experience with Alexander uplifting and inspiring students to be their best, spreading happiness and joy. Alexander has inspired his students and taught them valuable lessons about eating and making healthy food, an important life skill. Alexander leads by example as he actively lives a healthy lifestyle. He serves as a fantastic teacher and an even better life mentor," said Sandstrom.

"Many of Alexander's students have become proud of the practical life skills they have learned through his program, and many have gone on to be cooks and chefs of all kinds.  Alexander is more than deserving of this recognition for the unique role he plays in the lives of his students. Alexander plans to retire within the next few years and has built this program to be one of the most unique programs in all of LAUSD for the students," said Sandstrom.
