Monica Solis was nominated by her principal, Norma Villarreal.

"Monica Solis is an educator who inspires everyone to be life-learners.  She listens, observes, and provides knowledge in a way that we all admire. Monica does it with great care, an honest voice, and a respectful attitude.  She reaches every student by building great relationships with their families and the community.  Find ways to make connections and build beautiful memories.  Her students share their learning with great pride and make connections to their everyday encounters.  She always finds a way to find the best qualities in students and makes them grow to become responsible and ethical community citizens," said Villarreal.

"School members trust her judgment and rely on her guidance.  Now, she is improving her skills and working toward her certification with the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.  This certification is the "most respected professional certification available" in education.  It proves her commitment to education and a promise to make a difference in the lives of children.  I feel honored to work with an amazing colleague who inspires all to find the best within us," said Villarreal.

Monica is an excellent caring and giving teacher who goes the extra mile to help her students achieve their highest potential. Just as you step inside her classroom you see the dedication and high expectations she has for her students by uniquely displaying their work in Spanish and English. She is an amazing teacher who uses culturally relevant literature to engage students in learning. She is a valuable member of the Dual Language Program at Cohasset Elementary School and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work closely with her.

I have had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Solis for 3 years and I cannot speak highly enough of her professionalism and genuine care for her students. She works hard to get to know each and every one of her students and families and build classroom community. She is kind and respectful of each student's backgrounds, values, and needs, and differentiates her teaching to meet students where they are each day. It is a joy to visit her classroom and see the pride in her students' eyes as they master a new concept. Mrs. Solis is truly a gem in our Cohasset Community.
