She knows that each student has the world at their fingertips and has the power to change the world we live in for the better. Ms. Martinez has created several events and programs that allow student creativity to blossom. She works on providing all students in Desoto ISD with the resources needed to foster a positive learning environment and opportunities to see their lives and the world from a different perspective. She makes a massive difference in the lives of students at Desoto ISD and continues to contribute to developing the school's atmosphere.

I have had the privilege of knowing Silvia for over 20 years, and I can confidently say that she embodies what it means to be a life changer. Silvia's unwavering dedication to service is evident in every aspect of her life—professionally, personally, and in her faith. She is a tireless advocate for others, constantly encouraging those around her to reach their full potential. Whether she’s helping someone find a job, start a business, get healthy, or simply achieve their dreams, Silvia is there, offering her guidance and support.

Dr. Silvia Martinez is very deserving of the Life Changer Award. She is steadfast and unwavering in her commitment to provide exceptional learning experiences for all students and truly cares. Her work ethic is exceptional and her demeanor is professional, courteous, pleasant and inspiring. I’m blessed to be her colleague and learn from her.
Dr. Martinez truly deserves this nomination. She’s a constant encourager. But last year in particular, she contacted me and asked if we could meet for lunch. She took that opportunity to invest in me and my career by suggesting next steps for my advancement. It’s because of her that I have completed my studies for my superintendent certification! What an incredible mentor! I’m honored to have met her and have her in my life!
I met Silvia seven or eight years ago and was so impressed with her enthusiasm and her sincere friendship. She has a desire to help others and willingly gives of her time.

I have known her throughout her academic and professional path; and through that she inspired me to get my Master's. I have now been in education 14 years! Dr. Martinez has such a passion for ensuring DeSoto ISD students and families are connected with the resources they need to achieve academic success. She is an amazing person who leads by example, and puts those around her at ease. She treats everyone with respect and ensures each person feels that their thoughts and ideas are heard and valued.
What can I say about Sylvia Martinez she is absolutely incredible my son's mother passed away in February of 2023 and she's been there for me ever since she helped me put my son in school me not knowing anything about that if she helped me sitting up doctor's appointment and everything she's an amazing woman to my opinion she deserves every greatness that she gets thank you Sylvia Martinez
