Debbie Supple was nominated by an anonymous student.

One day at school, the student shared how they started crying as they gathered their belongings from the locker, the words of their peers stinging like a bee. Then, Mrs. Supple, with a concerned expression, pulled them aside. The student explained the situation, and Mrs. Supple reassured them, "Everything will be fine."

The student had known Mrs. Supple almost their entire life. They met at St. Charles Parish School when they turned four, and Mrs. Supple quickly became a significant part of their daily life. In the early elementary years, they would chat every morning by the bus entrance—discussing their days, interests, and toys. Mrs. Supple always seemed to know the right words to say, providing companionship during those early hours at school.

Even though there was an age gap—Mrs. Supple's daughter was several grades above—the student observed the close-knit family dynamic. This connection made them feel like they belonged. As they progressed into fourth grade, their interactions lessened, but whenever they crossed paths in the hallway, Mrs. Supple greeted them warmly, maintaining that sense of connection.

In middle school, their paths crossed more frequently as Mrs. Supple worked as an aide in various classes. The student began to see Supple as a figure of authority and a friend. They would chat about weekend plans or discuss the amount of homework from specific teachers. Mrs. Supple's cheerful demeanor and genuine interest in every student's life fostered a sense of trust and camaraderie.

As the student navigated through adolescence, facing occasional judgment from peers, they found solace in Mrs. Supple's unwavering support. Knowing they had an adult confidant to turn to helped them navigate challenges and grow into who they are today. They knew that even now if they were to approach Mrs. Supple, they would be met with a bright smile and a familiar greeting.
