"She valued everybody's safety over anything," the student affirms. This emphasis on safety laid the foundation for the trust-building activities crucial for Adventure PE, where teamwork and reliance on classmates are essential.
Ms. Sagal's efforts extended beyond safety; she deliberately tried to learn each student's name and encouraged everyone to do the same. The student explains, "She taught us how to belay by emphasizing 'gold standard,' which pretty much means perfect."
Ms. Sagal's dedication to ensuring every student mastered the techniques, even through one-on-one assistance, exemplified her commitment to her students' growth and development. For the student, overcoming a fear of heights became a significant personal challenge during Ms. Sagal's classes.
"When I was climbing, she would try to push me out of my comfort zone as much as possible," the student recalls. Each class allowed the student to surpass previous achievements, ultimately leading to a sense of accomplishment and personal growth.
Reflecting on the impact of Ms. Sagal's teaching, the student shares, "For the most part, I have overcome my fear of heights which I never thought was possible."
