Craig Haase was nominated by an anonymous student.
The student has had a longstanding connection with Mr. Haase, tracing back to their elementary school days when the student attended school alongside Mr. Haase's son, Jay. Recalling those early days, the student remarked, "I always thought of him as an inspiring and positive leader."
Years later, during the student's junior year of high school, the opportunity arose to be taught by Mr. Haase in an engaging class called American Problems. The student fondly remembered, "If I was having a bad day, I knew I could always count on American Problems to turn it around."
Thanks to Mr. Haase's vibrant teaching style, the class was filled with games and discussions on current events. Transitioning into senior year, the student found themselves in Mr. Haase's US History class, another captivating experience. Mr. Haase's teaching approach involved drawing connections to everyday curiosities, often posing questions like, "Have you ever wondered why this place is named what it is?" The student appreciated Mr. Haase's ability to make seemingly arbitrary historical facts meaningful and relevant.
Beyond the classroom, Mr. Haase's prowess extended to coaching the Arrowhead basketball team. The student noted, "Not only is he just a coach, but he is also one of the greatest coaches in the state."
Mr. Haase's commitment to his team led to notable recognitions, such as having the Arrowhead court named after him and being inducted into the WBCA Hall of Fame. Incorporating his coaching spirit into his teaching, Mr. Haase often turned lessons into friendly competitions to engage students. The student recalled, "His goal is to engage his students and try to make them a fraction as interested as he is in his teachings."
Mr. Haase's dedication extended to his family outside of school, including his wife, who had also been part of the student's educational journey.
Reflecting on his experiences, the student expressed gratitude for having Mr. Haase as a teacher, coach, and mentor, emphasizing, "He is an excellent teacher, coach, and mentor, and I am grateful that I have the opportunity to learn from him."
