Beth Gatzow was nominated by a student.

The former student shared heartfelt sentiments about Gatzow's role as a source of comfort and guidance during their time at Swallow School. The student expressed profound gratitude for Gatzow's support.

"She was the escape mid-day I desperately needed and searched for throughout middle school. Nurse Beth at Swallow School constantly guided me in the right direction and was always there with a helping hand," the student reflected.

The student recalled how they often sought refuge in Gatzow's office, especially during cold recesses. "Sometimes she would sigh and tell me, 'Claire, you need to go outside!'" the student reminisced.

Despite initial resistance, the student noted how Gatzow's warmth and care always won them over. "She is a very warm, devoted, and bubbly person who is generous and careful with all of the kids—treating them as if they were her own," the student remarked.

During a challenging period marked by personal struggles, including difficulties with family relationships, the student found solace in Gatzow's compassionate advice and validation of their emotions. "Over my seventh and eighth-grade years, we grew closer as we exchanged conversations about our lives," the student shared.

When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted their eighth-grade year, Gatzow's continued support through emails and virtual meetings was especially meaningful. "She knew how much she meant to me and kept in touch via email with me weekly, occasionally meeting on Google Meet," the student explained.

Reflecting on Gatzow's dedication to her students' well-being, the student admired her selflessness and passion for her job. "She is passionate about her job and loves the students and the community she works in, making her the best candidate for her job," the student expressed.

In conclusion, the student expressed deep appreciation for Gatzow's impact on their life. "Thank you for taking me in kindly and being the hope to get me through middle school. You have bettered me, and I thank you for allowing me to always stay in tune with my emotions and reminding myself that I already have the ability to push through difficult times," the student conveyed. "I am forever grateful for my relationship with Nurse Beth. She's truly incredible."
