Sanatha Alexis has truly been my inspiration, support system, and mentor. Sanatha has long been my teacher even through my early years as my Sunday school teacher. As a child, I was always curious and at some points frustrating to deal with. Nevertheless, she was always the person I could depend on most for my obscure questions. She was patient, kind, and taught me different values, helping me relate the Bible to real-world experiences. She has inspired and supported me in my education always helping and guiding me to make the right decisions. Thankfully because of her, I am proud to say I graduated college as a first-generation student. Sanatha is the embodiment of hard work, selflessness, and compassion. She is always giving encouragement to those around her while helping people nurture their relationship with God. Her optimism and love make it a challenge to have a bad day around her, I can think of no one more deserving of this nomination than Sanatha Alexis, she is truly a life changer.

Sanantha Alexis is a dedicated educator and administrator who brings out the best in her staff and students. Sanatha interviewed me in May of 2023 as a teacher in Los Angeles. Our interview was over an hour long, and I saw her passion for education and the high expectations and academic rigor she held for our school. I am very fortunate and honored to be apart of her team, and I am grateful all the help and support she has given me. She is a life-changer in so many ways!

Sanatha Alexis aside from being an amazing principal she is my friend and my Pastor. She is the most selfless person I know. Always has a word of encouragement, always pushing you to be your best and always willing to share her knowledge. No one is more deserving of this honor.

Ms. Alexis you have been a true inspiration not only to me but many other students throughout the years. I'm so honored to have had you as my teacher during these important chapters of my life. I recall the countless hours at Acorn High School after school expanding my knowledge in algebra, geometry and even trigonometry. Many times you devoted your time and money to aiding the growth of your students. Classroom would be filled with about 20-25 students after school who were eager to learn and help others with their work. Your passion for teaching and genuine care for your students have made all the difference in our academic success. Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do in the lives our your staff and students!

Family, friend and Pastor are the many roles that Sanatha plays in my life and I am incredibly grateful for her in all respects. She has an unequaled ability to be a source of positive encouragement to you while simultaneously pushing you towards self-improvement and growth. She is so kind and selfless in everything she does, and she is well known for the smile she wears and the light she brings to every moment. Not to mention she is brilliant and yet so incredibly humble! I know the students at her school are beyond blessed to have her leading the team of teachers and staff that provide for and supoort their educational growth, because Sanatha is a also passionate educator who is all about ensuring no child is left behind and all their potential is achieved. I see it in the way she engages with the youth at church and takes the time to build a network of support for them within the ministry. She is the type of genuine soul that everyone is willing to say yes to no matter the ask because to know her is to know a heart of love for all people. She is more than deserving of this award and then some! She changes lives she touches in her many spheres of influence daily and the best part is she does it all because that is simply who she is at her core!

Ms.Alexis was student favorite at Brooklyn high School for Law & Technology. I was one of those students over 8 years who had the pleasure and honor of meeting her. He love for teaching is so apparent but her love for students is extremely appreciated. She loved and cared for us in ways that many of us didn’t know was possible. To a lot of us she was our “mom”, “friend” that’s how important she was to us. She knew how to discipline us and teach us to be better people , while meeting us with a high level of gentleness and kindness. Traits that again , many of us never experienced. She’s the person that students talk about years after leaving , just random Facebook post like “Has anyone talked to Ms.Alexis? “ or “I miss Ms.Alexis I wonder how she’s doing”. Lifetime Changer Award is the definition of Ms.Alexis , especially for me . She has changed and touched many lives for the better . It’s an honor to be able to say Ms.Alexis was a teacher of mine . She deserves the world just because of who she is!

Ms. Alexis was one of the most influential teachers that I have had in my educational career. She was a great teacher, but above that she is an exceptional person. She was my high school math teacher and she truly cared for me beyond that which was expected of her based on her job description. I’d like to think that this was a unique experience I had with her, but it is truly one that all of her students would testify to if given the chance. Her character and her heart knew no bounds. Ms. Alexis constantly went the extra mile, whether it was staying after school to help her students understand concepts in new and exciting ways, or sacrificing her lunch period for her students to simply have a safe place where they can meet. I even remember us making up songs as a class to commit the formulas we needed to learn to memory. Ms. Alexis encouraged me and other students in my class to get a master of mathematics certificate. This is something that people in my community were not even familiar with, much less had a teacher who dedicated countless hours to help them achieve it. We spent so much time falling in love with learning, that the hunger to learn more has benefitted me in more areas of my life than I can count. When I got accepted to Spelman College, I took a math placement examination. Based on my scores I was exempt from taking college level mathematics. Today, two degrees later I am working as a Labor and Delivery Nurse, and every so often when I have to make drug calculations I think back to my high school teacher who fostered my love of math. To know her, is to know someone who works from her heart. Someone with pure character, passion and integrity. It is no surprise that she’s been nominated. I hope seize the opportunity to honor her.

Ms. Alexis is one of the most understanding, compassionate people and strongest leaders I have ever met. Ms. Alexis not only truly cares about her students but also about all her staff members. Emphasizing every individual's ability to grow and continuously develop. When you speak to her, you can feel the individual attention she gives to you, her ability to listen is above all else and her humility continuously shines through. Working under her has taught me a lot. Experiencing such a holistically caring environment truly cultivated by one of the best people to ever do it. There is no one else that deserves this award as much as Principal Alexis does.

Sanatha Alexis is an amazing, truly ‘one of a kind’ human being. She is an analytic, empathetic, goal oriented, community builder who never quits. I have known Sanatha all of her life and I’m extremely proud of the woman she has become. From her days as a young child growing up in Grenada she has always been dedicated and determined to achieve at her highest potential. Growing up in poverty as the daughter of farmers served as motivation for her to be her best. She graduated high school as the valedictorian, and upon her migration to the US, earned a BA/MA in Economics with a minor in Math from Hunter College, CUNY. All of this before the age of 23. She has changed the trajectory of many lives as a teacher, pastor, encourager, daughter, and sister. She constantly supports her siblings in our endeavors. In fact, for many of us, she has been our ever present inspiration. From helping with personal statements, resumes, college and job applications, counsel about life decisions, through childbirth, financially during difficult times, and through life changing decisions, she has been there for it all. This super woman also finds time to shepherd the flock at a non-denominational church in Brooklyn where she mentors countless youth and encourages them to pursue excellence. She is passionate about education and believes in building generational wealth. Sanatha is a dreamer, who has a growth mindset, a shepherd and one who always finds the time, has the heart and is committed to providing excellent service to her community. She works more hours than any human should because she never says no to anyone in real need of help or support. I can’t think of anyone more deserving than Sanatha for this honor!

Ms.Alexis, my lifelong teacher! I was her student for the first time over 8 years ago at Brooklyn High School for Law and Technology and although she may not know it she has been an influence in my life ever since. I was always a pretty solid student but being in a classroom with Ms. Alexis was an inspirational experience. Honestly , if you put a student in a room with her for a few months you’ll see students who didn’t have a care in the world for school start to care about their math class and actually be good at it. Teaching never seemed like a job to her, she was committed and consistent like no other. When someone like her believes in you, you are determined to give her the best version of yourself and ultimately you are destined to be great. It was to a point where me and my friends would spend our 45 minute lunch period in her classroom just absorbing her knowledge and energy and then stopping by after school if we could. If I had friends in other math classes tell me they were struggling, I’d tell them go to Ms.Alexis she’ll help you! Anyone in the school who wanted to learn could have access to her so it makes sense that she went on to become a principal, she always moved as such. Many many years later I can still look forward from a message from my favorite Highschool teacher just checking in on me and her old students and this time with news that she was nominated for a LIFE CHANGER Award. I am honored to have a chance to leave a comment on her behalf because of the impact she has made on my life and my peers. Ms. Alexis is a FORCE in the educational system, I have never met a teacher whose passion was so genuine that it was literally contagious. After Highschool I continued my education at Howard University where I had the chance to be a tutor, mentor and coach to so many of my peers and Howard students. In that time I was told that I too was passionate and my teaching style and my commitment to mentoring / coaching was infectious and for years while I spent my free time impacting others I knew that it was only because I am a reflection of Ms. Alexis, a true life changer. I am forever blessed to know her!

Sanatha Alexis is the most selfless person I know. If you have a dream or vision she will encourage you to get started. My daughter is 12 years old and has a passion for makeup and every year for the past 3 years she makes sure to let her showcase her talent on her. There is no judgement, there is no, she is too young to make up my face. Sanatha's way of letting her know she can do anything she puts her hands to do is by supporting her. She wears the makeup proudly and encourages her to keep practicing. She is very compassionate and sees the best in everyone. As far as for her being a principal she goes above and beyond the call of duty, and stays after hours, working tirelessy during the summer days with no complaints to make sure each child is successful and meets the criteria to graduate.

Elston Alexis Posted over a year ago

Sanatha being a Principal, doesn’t just get the Job done, but she goes above and beyond for her students. She’s always at work and trying to figure out ways to help her students and Staff to be the best they can be, even if it’s the weekend or holiday, Whether or not she goes into the building or work from home she’s forever working towards helping her students to build a strong foundation and prepare themselves well for the future. Not only is she a principal but she’s also an assistant Pastor, and plays a great role in the young people lives that attend her church as well as her younger siblings(me being one of them), always encouraging, and supporting to take advantage of opportunities and to be great at whatever we do. Sanatha is very devoted to her Job, and from the smile on her face and the joy she has when her students does well, i can tell that personally for her, that is her biggest reward, but I vote for her to win this as she well deserves it.

Samantha , is a great motivator, who, not only speaks but invests in the education and upliftment of others. My son is a recipient of her good deeds. Her contributions afforded me the opportunity of assisting needy students at my school in Grenada as well. She works extremely hard as well. Thank you for treating her for me. She deserves every good deed.

Sanatha Alexis has played a major role in my life growing up from a baby to 25 years old. She’s the friend that you always want to talk to, she plays the role as an auntie, sister, a friend, a mother, consular, mentor. Whatever you need her to be she will be for you. I remember a time in my life where I was struggling mentally, spiritually and physically and I leaned on her for 3 weeks straight. Constantly depending on her strength her knowledge her wisdom. She became everything to me helped me find myself again, find my voice again, find my passion for God again and I will forever be eternally grateful for having her to be the one I ran to when I didn’t know what was left to do. She always motivates us to be the best version of yourself, to never let fear of the unknown determine your faith, to always smile and keep pushing towards your goal in life. She taught me that there’s nothing you can’t do in life, you can do anything you put your mind and heart into. Her dedication, love to everyone around her; friends, family, teachers, students, church and really everyone she gets a 5 minutes. She will always put others before herself. I can sit here and write a book about how dedicated, devoted, amazing, talented she is but the reality of it is that words can’t describe her and her personality.

Now it’s easy to talk about someone’s personality. However let’s get more in depth when it comes to Principal Sanatha Alexis. Let’s talk about how this lady builds character in an individual by forcing us to think about what we want and why we want it , does it make sense to us and why . This is not typically a basic human skill but she teaches each and everyone of us this very important part of life. She challenges us all meaning every single one of us to dig deep into our fullest potential; you then cherish all your accomplishments and you move through life intentionally which makes it all worth it . It’s like raising a child to become a man or woman , she doesn’t believe that anything is too much ! The truth is when you get out into the real world she teaches us to have thick skin , she teaches us how to use critical thinking skills , she sets the tone for us to be successful and have reasoning and contentment behind it. So she’s not just our principal but really a life coach . She deserves this award because in life we don’t need the person that doesn’t mold us into being better we need the person that actually puts forth the effort to help us use one of our most important organs which is our brain . When we have brain power , we have it all ! And she exemplifies just that .

Sanatha Alexis is truly a one of a kind educator. Her dedication to her work is remarkable. As a staff member under her supervision I admire her for the approachable open door policy she upholds, where staff and students alike can approach her to voice any concern they are having in a non threatening environment. Sanatha, works earnestly on a day to day basis to ensure a safe and secure work and school environment for both teachers and students. Most admirable is the care she shows to her staff and the way she works to secure and develop personal growth growth opportunities for each staff member to become a better version of themselves.

It is with great pleasure I am writing this comment on behalf of Ms. Sanatha Alexis. I have worked with her for over 7 years now and in that time she has served me as a top tier administrator, motivator, confidant, and most importantly, a friend. Although Sanatha is my superior, she never makes me feel that way. I work with Ms. Alexis in the capacity of a High School Dean. In our time together, she has treated me as well as the rest of our staff with the utmost respect and care which creates an optimal work environment for all. She is always available when needed and being a part of her staff has been a pleasure for me. I always tell her that if she ever leaves she has to take me with her. In our work relationship, she allows me to be me, which is what I appreciate the most. She is hands down the best administrator I have ever worked for a I look forward to working with her for many years to come.

I have had the immense privilege of working with and for Ms. Alexis for the past seven and a half years. In my role as the school counselor, with 39 years of experience as an educator I have been able to learn new things and work harder and achieve more than I would have without the incredible leadership, instruction and inspiration provided by Ms. Alexis. I have seen her handle many situations without any missteps involving parents, staff and most importantly students. We are a small school and aside from providing the framework in which students can thrive inside and outside of the classroom with a plethora of opportunities, Ms. Alexis is a principal to whom students (and staff) know they can turn to for needs great and small. Her door is always open in that regard. Ms. Alexis is always looking forward seeing what we can provide for students. Being able to provide opportunities for internships leading to high paying careers for our students is one of the many foci we have been developing in recent years. No award can fully recognize all that Ms. Alexis has achieved but any award would be well deserved and earned.
