"For me, Claudia Wheeler is a LifeChanger. I am sick and disabled and my income is not enough to live off of. When I met Claudia, she saved my life by giving me all that I needed to live a healthier lifestyle. I could never afford healthy food, but Claudia helped me out and even brought it to my room when the weather was cold and I was unable to go to her. I have seen her do the same thing with other people who need help. That is why I am nominating her," said Glad.
"Claudia Wheeler is the most selfless person I know. She has spearheaded countless food, supply, and clothing drives over the past 12 years. She consistently strives to provide relief to deprived communities. Claudia also works tirelessly with her church to distribute quality food for those in need (locally and statewide). She gives her very best to elementary students in Trenton Public School District, all while being a dedicated wife and mother," said Curtis.
"As a colleague and friend, I have witnessed multiple encounters of her generosity towards students and/or staff, despite the emotional, physical, or financial toll it may have taken. Time is our most valuable asset, and as a veteran of the armed forces, Claudia recognizes the importance of her service to the students and community. She spends time building students' trust, staying after school to tutor, donating whatever a student may lack, and being the only example of love a student may have in their lives, to name a few," said Curtis.
"Not only does Claudia pour her energy into her students, church, and family, but she also dedicates her time to The SALT Foundation, a nonprofit organization that she founded to close the nutritional gap amongst struggling families. Her passion for food equity positively influences the community, especially her natural and school children. Her work ethic, sacrifice, and commitment are contagious, and it compels others to get involved. It's easy and inspiring to follow someone, like Claudia, if they embody the change you want to see. This ripple effect will benefit the community for generations to come," said Curtis.
Claudia Wheeler is a women with many hats, I don't know how she sleeps??.She is all over NJ helping everyone she could with food, clothing,everything but the kitchen sink and if she had that, she would give it to them.She is an Angel ?? in disguise. She does this on her own with family and friends helping, she's had several trucks break down on her but that didn't stop her,the lord guides her in every direction.if someone could donate a Van to help her continue to help others, they would be giving her Gods gift to continue her mission...I love her for loving ?? others...I've seen and traveled with her to know some of her good deeds...God bless ????her as God continues to use her...
Claudia Wheeler is a life changer indeed. She is an incredible mentor to the children she supports. Her wealth of experience in education is priceless. She is not only full of wisdom, but she also has a heart to give. Her efforts through the Salt Foundation have impacted many families. Her determination and attention to detail have provided food and resources for those who are unable to afford them. This wonderful woman is a true gift to so many people. She never stops giving of herself to those in need. What a difference she makes to all those she serves. Claudia is a very honest, ethical and professional person. As a member of non-profit organization, my interactions with her have been with her SALT Foundation. She went above and beyond to support us with our food and toy drives. She worked relentlessly to ensure our needs were met. Even when she was ill, she went out of her way to make things happen. I fully support her nomination.
Mrs. Wheeler is an amazing teacher. Me and my son were fortunate to have her as his teacher and I must say my son blossomed as a student. She’s patient and kind and she believes in her students. It takes an amazing person to be a teacher, but it takes an extraordinary person like Mrs. Wheeler to be an educator.
The University Heights Seventh-day Adventist church of Somerset, NJ is grateful for Claudia Wheeler. Every month, we are able to serve hundreds of families in our community through our drive- thru food distribution with healthy bags of groceries provided by the SALT Foundation. Claudia works tirelessly to ensure that as many families as possible are provided with wholesome and healthy food options. Her sacrifice of time, hard work and unwavering commitment to not only serve our community, but so many others, demonstrates what we all should be doing... loving your neighbor as yourself. Claudia is changing lives in so many different ways. She is a teacher during the day and she becomes a strategic planner in the evening. She drives all over NJ picking up donations and passing them out as needed. She is dedicated to helping end food insecurity and it is an honor to call her my friend and colleague.
Our organization is so grateful to Claudia for all she does. Our food pantry can serve more individuals and families in the community. She is indeed changing many people's lives!

It is rare that you get to meet a person whose mission in life is to improve the lives of others. Be it her family, her students or those she so selflessly helps fight against hunger, Claudia Wheeler is a "Life Changer." I met Claudia, shortly after moving into a "low income senior residence." As I was waiting in the lobby one day, I noticed a sign, asking for volunteers for a food distribution program. I asked a few of the other residents about the sign and they began to fill me in about this "wonder woman" Claudia, who had been of service to many of them over the years. I quickly volunteered and have not regretted my decision for a moment. Getting to know Claudia and becoming a part of my buildings food distribution program has been one of the most gratifying decisions I have made in a long time. Her energy, caring and love are both contagious and inspiring. She has changed my life and continues to on a regular basis.
I worked at Gregory school a couple years ago and I watched this beautiful teacher work very hard and dedicate her time to the students and the staff what amazing personality she truly loved her students and she makes the best banana bread….
