Jillian Cabonce was nominated by a friend, Christine Abdukhalykov.

"Concentrate on the abilities your disability doesn't hinder and don't dwell on the things it interferes with. Be disabled physically, not in spirit" - Stephen Hawking.

"As the saying goes, I would like to nominate Ms. Jillianne Kaye Cabonce, an international teacher from the Philippines. Ms. Cabonce is a dedicated teacher and an individual willing to lend her helping hand to our special children in the community," said Abdukhalykov.

"Being away from her family is not easy, but Ms. Cabonce chose the path where she can share her skills and expertise in educating our students here in the U.S. She is very grateful to be given this kind of opportunity because she was able to educate and support children with disabilities and help them to be more successful in the future," said Abdukhalykov.

"She is in her 5th year here in the U.S. teaching children with disabilities. Her dedication impressed me as she shared her experience from the beginning of her teaching career until now. She is currently teaching at Dreher High School as a teacher in a Learning Disability self-contained class. But before that, she was also assigned to teach and train adult students with mild to moderate disabilities from a different school in the district," said Abdukhalykov.

"What is truly remarkable is her unwavering dedication to traveling to the opposite side of the world just to share her virtuosity and wholehearted service for our students with special needs. She believes that although teaching students with special needs is challenging, seeing them do things by themselves and being successful in life shows that her efforts and hard work are all worth it," said Abdukhalykov.

"In conclusion, Ms. Cabonce is an extraordinary teacher whose influence extends far beyond the globe. Her ability to create a nurturing and engaging learning environment and her tireless dedication to her student's success make her an outstanding candidate for the LifeChanger of the Year Award," said Abdukhalykov.

Mithushielah Romero Posted over a year ago

I met Jillian over the summer sharing the Living Benefits to her and hearing of her story of courage from the Philippines to come here and teach SPED kids and how her school is making initiatives to make her school campus a safer place for both teachers and students alike, as it seems, our teachers lives are on the line daily with the many horror stories we here with regards to gun Violence. We never want to see this anymore but we have to be realistic and I believe her school has put in some measures to ensure that guns will not be taken into her school. As a mom myself, I commend her school for doing such an initiative and I pray that the money she wins for herself and her school goes to these initiatives to keep our kids and students and our very own educators safe inside their schools.

Truly the definition of a ride or die friend! I have witnessed how brave this person can be, in the face of the many challenges she overcame. Indeed, teaching and serving in SPED is her calling and where her heart truly is.

Ann Grimes Posted over a year ago

Jilliane is indeed a life changer! She and I have been working together as a team for a short period of time, but the "observed" energy that she has brought to the classroom and her students, seems as if we have been a team for MANY years. The lessons are well-planned and meet the goals that she has set for her students. Her ability to tear through the layers of the lessons to make them more practical, exemplifies her high level of a qualified educator. The classroom displays that accommodate the lessons bring her students to the edge of their seats, wanting to engage and ask in-depth questions. The more the students are engaged, the more Jilliane delivers! What a life changer she is! The world needs more educators who can bring students to their "seated edges" and propel them for the journey to learning.
