LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Marcie Keen was nominated anonymously.

"I would like to nominate Marcie Keen for LifeChanger of the Year. Three words that could describe her are optimistic, engaging, and passionate. Nurse Keen's students adore her, and when speaking with them, you quickly learn that Health Science is their favorite class. The course content and curriculum are challenging, so their love for the class is 100% due to Nurse Keen's passion for the subject and dedication to her students," said the nominator.

"Nurse Keen joined the Harrison County School District in 2014 as a school nurse. In 2018, she joined the Harrison County Career and Technical Center and started the Health Science Program for our school district. She moved to the D'Iberville High School campus in 2022. Developing future healthcare workers has always been important, but there has been a much greater need in the field since the pandemic, especially on the MS Gulf Coast. Nurse Keen inspires her students to continue their career goals in the medical field and fosters a love of caring for people and serving the community. The students gain not only textbook knowledge but also first-hand experience by participating in clinical days at local health facilities and hospitals," said the nominator.

"Nurse Keen was awarded Teacher of the Year for the Harrison County Career and Technical Center for the 2019-2020 school year. She is also the Health Occupations Students of America Advison (HOSA) and has had students place yearly in the MS State Competition. Nurse Keen and her students are active participants in school activities, including the DHS Health Fair and Career Fair, and provide first aid at the senior field day and exceptional student field day," said the nominator.

Aside from her accomplishments and accolades, Nurse Keen makes real-life connections with her students. She forms lasting relationships and becomes a mentor for them as they prepare for college and begin setting future career goals. Nurse Keen is a LifeChanger because she goes above and beyond for her students and makes a lasting impact on their lives. We are truly fortunate to have her as a teacher at D'Iberville High School," said the nominator.
