Liandra Turner was nominated by a colleague, Elizabeth Copas.

"Liandra Turner is an incredible worker. She has impeccable attendance. Liandra is there for the students in all areas of the school. She provides a safe environment for students in all areas of the school. Having worked with Liandra for seven years in a 12:1:1, I couldn't be more honored to be her co-worker," said Copas.

"She relates to the students, having been born and raised in NYC. She is kind, caring, and patient with the students. She embraces their cultures, differences, and what makes them unique. She encourages students to be their authentic selves while teaching self-monitoring. Her positivity and calming nature provide past and present students a place to share their thoughts and feelings. Countless times, while we eat during our duty-free lunch and hear a student struggling in the hallway or another classroom, Liandra is eager to help. Whether she knows the student or not, she provides them a safe place to calm him or herself down," said Copas.

"Throughout the seven years I've worked with her, previous students have come to visit Liandra with smiles and open arms. She encourages them to stay in school, make good choices, and always love themselves. Every day, she teaches me a new way to reach students, tackle tough conversations, and remind us that we are more than just test scores. Liandra is a staple of PS 70, and all who know her adore her," said Copas.
