Jason Reynolds was nominated by a colleague, Ellen Crasnick.

"I'm a special education co-teacher who has worked closely with Jason Reynolds in his 8th grade English class for over thirteen years. During this time, I've been impressed with his leadership in our grade level, his relationship with colleagues, and his constant commitment to enriching the lives of the students we teach," said Crasnick.

"In recent years, our school has gone through personnel changes. We've lost strong teachers who have led our grade level and the English departments. Mr. Reynolds, without hesitation, has taken hold of a leadership role in mentoring new teachers and just getting the important stuff done," said Crasnick.

"Mr. Reynolds has always been a respected colleague to the entire school staff. He's always the first to offer a hand to help out his school and immediate colleagues. Jason offers lesson recommendations and has taken on a mentor role in aiding other teachers with lesson planning. He has also been a great resource and support to me as a coworker and co-teacher in his classroom," said Crasnick.

"Finally, Mr. Reynolds has always worked nonstop to make English an interesting subject for his students. While middle school students are not often engaged in learning, Mr. Reynolds has rethought lessons to try to get his students engaged in learning. He's implemented a mixture of discussion, group work strategies, and information to grasp their interests. He's even jumped up on tables in the middle of lessons," said Crasnick.

"In conclusion, Jason Reynolds is a special educator who should be acknowledged for his constant enthusiasm and dedication toward educating middle school students in Brockton," said Crasnick.
