It has been such a privilege to have worked with Kay! We spent many years together supporting teachers, students, and parents, and I can truly say that Kay is ONE of a KIND! She is honest, firm, kind, and inspiring! She has an ability to challenge students to be their best selves as she holds them accountable for their choices. She “tells it like it is” with love and often humor. She shares her personal story, and invests in the lives of those around her… changing and inspiring on a daily basis! I dearly love this woman and am thankful for her continued dedication to our community!
Growing up, I had the privilege of witnessing my mom's unwavering dedication as an educator. Her commitment to her students went beyond the classroom, and it was a testament to her boundless passion for shaping young minds. I watched in awe as she poured her heart into every life she touched, stayed late to offer extra help, and went above and beyond to create a nurturing environment for all students. My mom's selflessness was truly inspiring. I remember seeing her do stuff like turn the teacher’s lounge into a beauty shop because she was tired of young ladies not feeling their best due to circumstances out of their control, and coming in my bedroom early in the morning to take some of the jackets and Polo sweaters out of my closet to gift it to a student that needed it. As a kid, I didn’t always not always understand the sacrifice, but as an adult seeing her tireless efforts and genuine care for each student left an indelible mark on my heart. As I reflect on my own journey, I realize that her example has shaped me into the woman I am today. It is through her lessons of empathy and dedication that I've learned the true meaning of service, and the profound impact one person can have on the lives of others. My mom's legacy as an extraordinary educator is not just a source of pride; it is the guiding light that continues to influence my choices and aspirations. You are so deserving of this award. In all the years I’ve known you, I have always admired your passion for helping students become productive citizens. You have made a difference in the lives of so many students. I have watched you support students who had no one else to support them. You are truly deserving of this award.
I was blessed to have crossed paths with Dr. Benjamin my sophomore year of high school. She has no nonsense attitude mixed her caring personality. Throughout high school I knew I wanted to go into education and possibly be an administrator. Dr. Benjamin was one of the administrators who I would watch and question in terms of why she does what she does. Her presence in the classroom and hallways were by everyone and she always had an open door policy. Fast forward to the present, Dr. Benjamin still manages to take the time out of her day(s) to check on me and path towards leadership in my educational career as well as to simply see how I’m doing in life. I say all that to say Dr. Benjamin is the embodiment of a Life Changer.
I can’t think of anyone more deserving! Amazing educator and an amazing person. Dr. Kay Isom-Benjamin has always been one of my biggest supporters and little does she know how big of an impact she made in my life.

I taught under the guidance of Dr. Kay Isom-Benjamin for several years when she was the assistant principal at Northside High School, and again now, as she is the principal of the WIN Academy. In both positions and through the many years I’ve known her, Dr. Benjamin has always been a strong supporter of teachers and students. She offers help willingly, and she is very encouraging, enthusiastic, and positive, yet she believes in holding students accountable. Dr. Benjamin carries her authority in strength, but cloaked in kindness and love for others.

Honestly, being a life changer doesn’t describe Dr. Benjamin well enough. She is God-like!!! Being an educator myself and watching Dr. Benjamin, I've learned that what she does is God’s work. I graduated almost ten years ago and Dr Isom changed my life more than anyone I’ve met yet. I was homeless and my mother wouldn’t enroll me in school. She was known as Mrs.Isom our principal at the time. Mrs Isom somehow got me enrolled under her address and I was able to complete my senior year along with her guidance. Dedication, determination, influential are just adjectives to describe this amazing nominee. Mrs Isom was awesome teacher when I was in school. I will always remember the loving teacher that always had a smile on her face and greeted us at the being of each class. She is a great support to everyone she encounters and has changed the lives and mindset of many students who didn’t think they were good enough. Mrs Isom definitely deserves the Lifechanger Award because she never has switched up. She has rules and guidelines she follows and she stands by them while doing what she loves on a daily basis.
Dr. Benjamin is an amazing boss who leads by example. The way that she loves on the students and always strives to build them up is inspiring. She is as strict on everyone as she is caring and will never ask you to do something she isn't practicing for herself. No one is more deserving of the title Life Changer because that's exactly what she sets forth tod do each and every day.
It is with great pleasure that I nominate Dr. Kawanya Isom Benjamin for the LifeChanger of the year. In her short time at WIN Academy she has changed the moral and relationship with in the school and with the kids. She shows and tells the kids that she loves them EVERYDAY!!! She speaks with EVERY child that comes through the doors of the school.
She gives EVERY PARENT that has a student at WIN Academy has her cell phone number during Orientation. So that they maybe able to contact her at any given moment.
She is also a pleasure to work for. She loves to build her staff up with positive reinforcement. A good leader not only leads but also serves the people she leads. She doesn't mind jumping in helping her staff from washing dishes, to serving water or food to her kids at lunch time. For these reasons and many more. Having met her while I was a Master’s level student and and be under her supervision at a school in Seminole County, FL watching the way she carries herself professionally and connect with students was inspiring and motivating. Dr isom definitely deserves this because she was there for me during some of the hardest times of my life. (When I went into foster care) She is part of the reason I am where I am at today. (I am a full time college student now) She taught me the saying, “do what you have to do so you can do what you want to do” and I really do live by that saying. She was my AP at Journey’s Academy. Journey’s Academy is an alternative school. When the majority of the students complained about uniforms, Dr.B wore the same dress for weeks as an example for students that if she wouldn’t ask students to do something she would not do. I am honored to call Dr. Isom Benjamin my friend and mentor in education. Over twenty years ago, she took me under her wing when I was new to the field and made certain that I understood the most important part of teaching - the students in front of me. I'm pleased to support the nomination of Dr. Isom. I met Dr. Isom nearly 10 years ago and have followed her work and her passion for global education and vision for childrento succeed. A noted project we partnered together with was the collection of books for my high school in West Africa. She led this effort in collecting and shipping assorted books to young learners in Liberia. She loves solving problems and cares for everyone she encounters especially disadvantage children. She continues to use her personal resource to keep several kids in school in Liberia. LifeChanger, that is who Dr. Kawanya Isom-Benjamin is. I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Isom for many years. She is one of the most passionate educators that I have ever worked with. She saw each student as an individual that had their own God created potential. She consistently went beyond just talking with students. She invested her time, attention and very often her own financial resources to help support her students. She was always willing to do whatever it took to impact her students lives in a positive way.
Mrs. isom was one of the best people that I met during my time at NHS. She dedicated her time, knowledge and life to all of her students. I can wholeheartedly say there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for us. If it was raining and I needed a ride home, she took me. If I was after school for ROTC she took me, if I was in trouble in school she straightened me out. I don’t know anyone more deserving than her of an award dedicated to her life long sacrifices.
I absolutely love Dr. Isom-Benjamin. I met her when I was a student at Northside High School. I would always stop and talk to her when I saw her in the hallway. She was friendly, but also made sure we were on our best behavior and staying on track. I truly believe her guidance positively influenced who many of us are as adults more than 10 years later. Dr Benjamin was my administrator and Assistant Principal in Florida for several years until I retired. She is kind, encouraging, wise, fun and so caring. I met Dr. Benjamin when she became an assistant principal at Journeys Academy in Sandford, FL. Journeys Academy is a school where students are assigned for violation of the Student Code of Conduct. At that time I was a mathematics teacher.
She immediately changed the culture of the school! Her sincere passion for educating the entire child was extremely evident based on her interactions with the students. Each morning she would greet the students with a simple touch and a smile letting the students know that their self worth and advocacy is highly important! Currently, I am a dean of students a nearby high school. I have taken her same approach by "fistbumping" every student that enters the building I am assigned to. I make eye contact, greet them with a smile and say "Good Morning!" My principal and now some of the AP's have adopted this concept! The culture of the school has changed dramatically! She absolutely deserves her flowers and this prestigious LifeChanger Award! Because of her, I view the students wholistically. I was introduced to Dr. Benjamin over 20 years ago; when I was a student and she was an English/LA teacher at Perry High School. She always had the best outlook on life; was dedicated, fun, and loving; and one to be respected and admired. I find those things to still be true today. Watching her advanced professionally, it was no surprise to hear her announced as principal of the WIN Academy. Dr. Benjamin is truly a gem!

Dr. Benjamin changed my life. I came under her leadership my first year as a teacher, several years ago. The passion she has for education is authentic and she has mastered the art of instilling standards into both the educator as well as the scholar. I was Kay’s colleague at Perry High School. As an English teacher, she was always focused on the highest possible achievement of her students. Her students in return did wonderful on the writing exam required at that time. She was and is a warm, knowledgeable and understanding person who sets high standards for herself, her colleagues, and the students under her care! She is a great candidate for this award.
Mrs. Isom-Benjamin was my English teacher in high school. At such a vulnerable time in my life, I can remember her passion and fire for not only what she taught, but connecting with the students on a personal level. Our class was full of people from all walks of life, but when we hit that door we knew we would be treated all the same..with respect, dignity, like we were smart, and like we mattered. I have been out of high school for 20 years, but she remains THAT teacher I will never forget. I am so grateful she was able to bless my classmates and I all those years ago, and it is no surprise to me that she holds the position she does today. Mrs. Isom-Benjamin lives to raise up the younger generation and help them realize their potential. If anybody deserves this award, it's her. I will never forget the impact she had on me and my classmates.
Dr. Isom-Benjamin, taught me in 9th grade as well as 11th grade. I'll always remember her pushing excellence out of all students. It didn't matter how we felt. It was her passion to make us scholars.

I cannot express how privileged I feel to have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Isom-Benjamin. As an administrator, she was very caring about the growth of her teachers. In all my years of teaching, she is one of a few administrators that was always very supportive of her teachers, and gave them the confidence to always come to her without the fear of repercussion. In my opinion, it was a great loss to Seminole county, Florida, when Dr. Isom-Benjamin returned to Georgia.

Dr. Isom-Benjamin is a hard working and dedicated person. I teach Mildly Intellectual Disable students. She made a point for me to receive the same training in curriculum as my general education peers. She placed me on course teams with AP Honors' teachers. When I asked the question, "You do know what I teach, right?" Dr. Isom-Benjamin stated that those teachers needed me as much as I needed them. Of course, she was right. I grew as an educator and formed bonds that still lasting today. Because of her, students were challenged in life as well as academically.
I am proud of Dr. Benjamin. When she was my high school principal, she always made sure that you were being the best person that you could be in life.

I had the distinct pleasure of working with Dr. Isom-Benjamin early in my career. She was an Assistant Principal at Northside High School and was my immediate Administrator.
